Well, I love it. I hear what others are saying about it being click bait, but I think it gives the op a better analysis of how their situation is viewed by the great and good of mumsnet.
And it's a bit of fun. I love a poll. What do you all think? Am I unreasonable to love it or do you all love it too?

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 01:49

I can't see it thank goodness.

MagneticSingularity · 23/06/2019 02:20

I like it. Saves me repeating what a gazillion other posters have said on a thread for one thing.

managedmis · 23/06/2019 02:27

I luffs it too Grin

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 23/06/2019 02:34

Hate it. Too big on mobile site, wrong placement. If it was below or just above the reply box it might be better but it's not.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 23/06/2019 04:27

I like it. And how appropriate is it that this thread should be one of the ones you can vote on? 😁

Peacocking · 23/06/2019 06:39

Nope. I've lost count of the times I've changed my mind mid thread in the past!

MsMarvellous · 23/06/2019 06:50

If it's not in the app I don't get to use it. I only Mumsnet from my phone. Don't get any messages either.

BullBullBull · 23/06/2019 06:53

I like it. I tend to read the thread then vote.

I want a like button as well but only to see the frothing of certain posters Grin

dudsville · 23/06/2019 07:59

I also thought it was an advert. What happens, does only the OP get the result?

LonelyTiredandLow · 23/06/2019 08:01

It's surely just a way to use an algorithm as happens on FB - easiest bit to tag marketing to and target customers on an emotive basis.

It's linked to funding and money.

DoneLikeAKipper · 23/06/2019 08:04

It’s a gimmick, and not even a good one. It’s lowering the tone of the site, and considering this is AIBU that’s quite an achievement.

It’s obvious why it’s been done though, MNHQ are obviously trying to entice the next-gen of parents, the ones who’ve lived on social media and ‘likes’. They’re doing so at the expense of fixing actual tech problems longer term posters have complained about for years.

Long story short, it’s crap and I’m not using it.

msrisotto · 23/06/2019 08:06

I’m not against the principle, but in practice it looks like an ad.

babysharkah · 23/06/2019 08:06

I can't see it

msrisotto · 23/06/2019 08:07

No you vote then it shows you a bar chart for YABU and YANBU

Bakingberry · 23/06/2019 08:07

I use the app on my phone and I can't see it.

LoudestRoar · 23/06/2019 08:07

With information from Ops filtering through in later posts the majority of the time, your vote may change, but you can't.

DoneLikeAKipper · 23/06/2019 08:11

@msrisotto, that’s because it is an ad - one for journalists to pick up threads easier. ‘User XxX thought their MiL was a crazy, thieving old cow, but 74% of Mumsnetters disagree!’.

EnglishRose13 · 23/06/2019 08:13

I generally use the app and I've never seen a voting function.

I just went to the desktop version on my phone and I still can't see it.

Am I being thick?

Diddleysquat · 23/06/2019 08:18

Hmm, I like it, it’s fun. But I want to be able to see which way the voting is going before I press the button. I know it wouldn’t work like that but I like to sit on the fence, this way I have to commit 😭

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 23/06/2019 08:37

I thought the point of this forum was to discuss issues and opinions some are just for fun others are more serious

And to gain a wider range of opinions

It’s dumbing down and making it like so many social media platforms about validation that has little or no substance

KooMoo · 23/06/2019 10:40

Love it! To the point and you can still post your reasons for your decision Grin

.... I don’t think it looks like an advert either!

AnthonyCrowley · 23/06/2019 10:47

Why do some AIBU threads have voting and others don't?

Pinkmouse6 · 23/06/2019 10:48

Not a fan, I find it tacky.

Huggybear16 · 23/06/2019 11:53

Great for when I can't be bothered to post 'properly' and/or explain myself.

Great. Mumsnet will be full of posters who "can't be bothered to post" but LOVE the votes.

Veronicat · 23/06/2019 11:59

It's being trialled by 20% of users. Theres a thread in site about it. I can use it but I think it's pretty pointless.
