To have read up on Eurodisney but not really understood?

Not a true AIBU but posting here for traffic (hopefully). The hubby and my two step daughters (10 and 6) are off to Eurodisney in two weeks and we will stay at the Villages Nature resort. I have been reading up about fast passes but I amn’t really clear. I can’t tell whether we get a fast pass ticket from the resort as a freebie or if we are supposed to buy one ourselves nearer the time... and if so, what is best to get? My eldest is a thrill seeker . Can anyone shed any light or offer advice please?

Your park tickets allow you to use the fast pass machines in the park. Everyone gets this. You put your ticket in the machine and it gives you a return time for the ride when you can use the fast pass queue. These sometimes are all gone fairly quickly in a morning and I believe you can only hold one fast pass wait ticket at once.

They have also introduced some new passes that you can pay extra for that get you in the fast pass queue without having to wait intil later.

Ah ok... so if I go with thefreebie one, there is no guarantee we will get the rides we want ? So it might be worth paying if it’s our once in a lifetime visit?

You don't usually pay for fast passes. The fb page Disneyland for Brits know everything!

TantricTwist · 21/06/2019 15:41

You will get the rides you want just put your ticket in the machines for the ride you want.

When that time is up and you have completed the ride (or not) then you can use it again for another ride.
Also do take advantage of the free magic hour slot in the morning where you can go on all the rides before the park opens. It is so worth it and it ensures you get to go on pretty much any rides you want for the duration of the trip.
We are going in August I can't wait. The last time I went was 2012 and I regret having paid for breakfast on the dining plan as you miss out on a chunk of the Magic hour.

This time we will be straight out the door.

There is absolutley no need and no point in paying any extra for rides.

TantricTwist · 21/06/2019 15:43

Double check the height for the rides as they are strict.

Madonnaslonglostbeautyspot · 21/06/2019 15:44

Isn’t it a pain if all the fast passes for the rides you want have gone though? Sorry to be so useless... I am just so genuinely confused by it all 🙈

My daughter is Disney mad and goes to Uni right beside Disneyland Paris. She's there most weeks. If you're staying at a Disney hotel, you should be allowed in an hour before the park officially opens. This is where you'd do things like Star Wars (Space) Mountain and the Pinocchio/Dumbo/Peter Pan Ryan have huge queues later in the day. Fast passes can be for from the machines as soon as office park opening time happens. My daughter has managed to get three or four in a day. But you can only get another one once you've used the previous one (ie the entry time has passed). Some of the rides have single rider Qs now so you can fill up spaces in otherwise half empty cars. Not appropriate for a 6 year old, but maybe useful if you or your daughter want to do a ride quickly. I certainly wouldn't be spending a fortune on a magic pass that lets you skip the lines. There's time to do loads, but if you go expecting to do everything, you'll be disappointed. Our record is 18 rides in a full day. X

If you are going in term time you should be ok with the standard free pass system. Over a weekend and you might struggle.

Look up which rides she definitely wants to go on and see whether they even have fast pass as an option as some don’t.

Crush’s coaster and Ratatouille are rides in Studios park and have the biggest queues. If you want to do them then I recommend going straight to Ratatouille as soon as you enter the park to get a fast pass for later and then get yourself in the crush’s queue straight away as that doesn’t have a fast pass system. Don’t wait until later- the queue time won’t come down!

WhenZogateSuperworm · 21/06/2019 16:10

You can download the Disneyland Paris app and it tells you the wait times for each ride. Worth doing a week or so before you go so you can monitor them and know how what to expect when you get there.

ChicCroissant · 21/06/2019 16:11

I think what might be confusing the issue here is that there seems to be another type of ticket which has a fast pass for three rides - I suspect the OP has the usual ticket where you need to put it in the machine. It does let you know the time you need to come back at before you print the fast pass (IIRC) so if it's not suitable you may have to leave it.

Also, check the DLP website to see if any rides might be closed when you are there - they do shut for renovations from time to time.

I'd recommend the Buzz Lightyear ride, get to shoot at targets from the carriage!

ChicCroissant · 21/06/2019 16:12

While the magic hours are good, not all the rides are open so don't count on that!

DefConOne · 21/06/2019 16:20

DLP Guide website explains every really well and lists all the rides that issues fast passes. It’s worth having a look at the description of the rides and the park map to have a think about which rides you want to do.

TantricTwist · 21/06/2019 16:21

Just enjoy it for what it is really as there's so much to see and do. It's definitely not just all about the rides and long queues

Madonnaslonglostbeautyspot · 21/06/2019 16:42

Thank you so much all for taking the time to reply .. lots of good tips!!!

Agree with Superworm - run for the crush's coaster queue as soon as the gates open and one of you run down to ratatouille to get fast passes for later. The rest of the rides you can usually queue normally and get on in approx 30 mins.

Random18 · 21/06/2019 19:25

Do you always get extra magic hours with villages Nature? Or does it depend how you book. I remember a lot of questions around this last year but can’t remember answer.

Disneyland Paris for Brits on fB is great.

You can buy fast passes on certain days and there are different levels. It’s expensive though.

We had a VIP fastpass for the length of our stay because we stayed in a suite in a disney hotel. That was a lot more economical than buying the fast passes

Fucktuates · 21/06/2019 19:25

Villages nature is FAB btw! Enjoy!!!

Random18 · 21/06/2019 19:26

We wasted 2 extra magic hours inn crush as it kept breaking down.

Ended up we never got to ride it.

Still a reason to go back - and yes go there 1st as queue gets ridiculously long
