To think dog boarders are like hens teeth?

So a friend let us down last minute to dog sit in their own home. We will be having work done so can’t use a boarder in our own home this time.
I appreciate its really late notice, but I’ve tried 15 dog boarders in the 5 miles surrounding me and every single one is full.
Are boarding kennels really that bad? She’s a 10 month old puppy so would rather she didn’t have to go into kennels.
Will she hate being stuck in a kennel for a few days?

I would love to take her with me. But where we are going doesn’t allow dogs. They used to, until irresponsible dog owners let their dogs damage the accommodation and now there is a blanket ban.
I think my last hope is going to be finding a friend who can have her.

Avoid Barking Mad!!!!!!

They were brilliant with my spaniel 🤷🏻‍♀️ He came back happy and healthy and I was confident he was well looked after.

All sorted. Found a friend of a friend who has just registered with the council and has space and comes with great references.
Panic over!!!

That must be a relief!

Spooky, I've just had the same problem looking for someone to have our spaniel (11 months)!

Finally managed to find someone but had to contact about 10 others first!

Thehop · 21/06/2019 13:55

Ooh that’s a coincidence I completed my registration application today!

A good kennel is worth an extra drive if you can find one. The one we use is 40 minutes away but it's brilliant. If you don't have to restrict yourself to a 5 mile radius, I wouldn't.

Have you tried the Rover app? I thought I'd exhausted my local area but found someone lovely on there,

I’m definitely going to book 6 months in advance next time!
Sounds like the dog boarders out there are doing really well!
Maybe I’ll change career!!!
