Looks like milk rash

Basically where she’s spitting up milk and it’s sitting behind her ears and getting a bit grimy

If she’s well in herself, don’t worry about the doctors

If however you feel she isn’t her normal self, it won’t harm to see your HV or doctors

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 20/06/2019 16:52

Doesn’t look worrying to me, but I’m not a doctor.

Hv said ring 111 but as soon as you mention a rash they say hospital... any more advice please?! Dont wana waste time but also dont wana miss something. Should I pop to pharmacy with her and see what pharmacist thinks?

Yeh looks like milk rash, does it disappear with the glass test Op? I’ll bob to a pharmacy rather than hospital in the first instance if you still aren’t sue e

NotSoThinLizzy · 20/06/2019 17:11

Looks to me like a sweat rash. Has she been warm? Another other symptoms?

Soubriquet · 20/06/2019 17:15

Pharmacists is a good idea. Always do the glass test on rashes

Cornettoninja · 20/06/2019 17:26

Looks like a tricky spot to get to with glass -you can pull the skin taunt/put pressure on it and be able to see it blanching.

Babies are surprisingly spotty little creatures. Dd gets viral rashes which is always fun and games for the worrier in me!

xJune88 · 20/06/2019 17:34

Suppose it could be heat related, they disappear with glass, shes been laid/cuddled up to me for most of the day but they are new today. Rang gp and going to see the doctor at 19.15 she seems ok but shes defo more spotty and I'm a worrier so I'd rather be safe than sorry! Thankyou all.

No health professional will grumble about seeing a potentially poorly baby

They may be robust little things but they can sick very quickly too

Always best to safe

Whatsername7 · 20/06/2019 17:40

That is normal newborn skin. Try some aveeno cream.

Whatsername7 · 20/06/2019 17:50

This is a petechial rash - one that doesn't disappear. This was my dd2's rash when she had sepsis. She had a high temperature and was crying a strange wimpery cry. She was difficult to rouse. It followed tonsilitis and she didnt get better with antibiotics. I just knew she wasn't right. The rash was almost secondary to all of the other symptoms it being a 'sign,' of something being very wrong. Even without the rash, I knew she needed medical attention. Trust your instincts, and seek reassurance if you need to. You are totally right to be on the ball and to get your baby checked out.

My son was really 'rashy' as a baby & still is now! Can't tell you the amount of times I've stressed out over what turns out to be heat, allergies or an unexplained viral thing! I was forever pressing glasses on him when he was little!!
