AIBU Proving ID needs a new system?

I've been offered a new job in the same hospital that I have worked in for over 10 years. I have to obviously have all my checks again. Trying to find something that is less than 3 months old to prove my address has been challenging to say the least. Everything is paperless these days. My bank, my building society etc...

I have a current passport and driving licence and eventually managed to find a council tax statement but AIBU to think there must be a better way?

Whenever I’ve had to do this, I’ve asked my bank to post me a statement. It’s not challenging.

Bollockwort · 20/06/2019 21:48

I usually print out my bank statements as mine have my address on them. You can also normally print out bills - mine all have my address on them too.

CurtainsOpen · 20/06/2019 21:51

Payslips, bank statements, all printable from your account(s).

minisoksmakehardwork · 20/06/2019 22:39

If you pop in your bank they'll print out a statement which can be used as ID/ proof of address.

You can print out PDFs of most bills online. Phone bills, broadband, utilities, credit card statements.
If you need an original pop into your branch and they will print you one and stamp it with details of their branch.

I think the countersignature you need on a passport is even worse, hate this system.

MidsomerBurgers · 22/06/2019 09:38

I got it all sorted, but the application email specifically stated no print outs (after I'd printed one out, grrr....).

We accept bank e-statements unless they are stamped as genuine in branch. Would that work, can you get to a bank branch?
Payslips are not generally accepted as proof of address. Having it dated within the last 3 months is just to show that you do actually live there.
short of you having an ID microchip like my dog I’m not sure what other system would work.

TheCrowFromBelow · 22/06/2019 10:20

If not unless Hmm

Userplusnumbers · 22/06/2019 10:21

I'd refer them to one of the recent payslips they've compiled for you

haveuheard · 22/06/2019 10:32

Yes council tax bill is the one to go for as you just need the current one. Or as people describe you get the stamped copy of a bank statement, I've done that before too.

Getting a DBS check done without a passport you need quite a lot of other things, I have now just given in and bought a passport just for ID purposes.

Rowennaravenclaw · 22/06/2019 10:59

It’s a nightmare when going back to work after being a student. No council tax, no recent payslip, bills not in my name. Yanbu

If you print in colour it’s not possible to tell if a bank statement isn’t an original. They often have everything you need including the logo and signatures!

PettyContractor · 22/06/2019 11:32

I can't remember what it was for, but I have had home printed bills disallowed at least once that I can remember. I'm not sure how they would tell if it was printed with a colour laser, though I have a vague notion that some bills make clear they are an on-line version. (Just looked at my Eon one though, can can't see anything that would give it away. But I don't have a colour laser.)
