AIBU to be angry about the death of a dog living in a rundown house after reporting my concerns to the RSPCA?

I'm so angry and very upset so would just like some opinions really.

Some months back I reported concerns to the RSPCA about a neighbour's dog (not a direct NDN).

The poor thing was barking, usually at night, sometimes for hours, and it appeared nobody was living (permanently at least) in the house. The house is a mess outside and we never saw the dog being walked or even in the garden, though we saw a car on the drive on occasion.

I made it completely clear to the RSPCA that I wasn't complaining about the noise, I was worried about the dog being left alone for potentially long periods and that it was very distressed.

Last week the police and RSPCA broke in and found the dog dead Sad

I'm devastated and angry. We didn't know the dog was still in the house and we don't yet know how long he or she had been dead.

As we hadn't heard the dog since I made the report, DH and I presumed the RSPCA had taken action and removed the dog or the owner had rehomed him/her following their intervention.

I've contacted the RSPCA asking for answers with a view to making a formal complaint. Any advice please? Sad

RSPCA bashing is the 'in thing' now don't ya know. They can't do right for wrong.

Criticised when the don't prosecute/criticised when they do. Criticised for sentences being too lenient when that is nothing to do with them. Criticised for not doing things that they legally can't do. Criticised for things that they cannot defend to the public due to data protection and GDPR.

The CEO salary is in their Annual Trustees Report and Accounts. The current chief exec is on £220,000–£229,999

www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/rspca-accounts-show-pay-out-of-almost-200-000-to-executive.html

@ Speakeasy - They dont publish - it is assumed

The charity’s accounts for the year to December 2017 show a payment of between £190,000 and £199,999. But the charity’s salary for its chief executive – the highest paid member of staff – is only £150,000.

RSPCA has not said who received the payment. However Jeremy Cooper, the former chief executive, left with immediate effect in June last year, after around 15 months in charge

I know a little more now but still no response from the RSPCA.
Looks like there were also other animals in the house Sad

Christ! That's so bloody sad. That poor dog, and other animals. How can people be so feckin cruel.

Ohbehave1 · 20/06/2019 21:26

The RSPCA. That well known political group masquerading as a charity.

No time for them. Will never give them any of my money. They are nothing but a bunch of thieves and fools who would rather prosecute a little old lady or take away her pet than go after the ones that really matter.

Let them go under. There are far better animal charities out there.

regmover · 20/06/2019 21:35

The RSPCA are shit and this is proved time and time again when other charities and welfare agencies act when the RSPCA don't. Proving that it's not about being tied by the law.

Re Nessie's post... Criticised for "rescuing" and soon after killing a group of Arabian horses that weren't in a critical condition and had people begging to rehome them. Criticised by handling one experienced mare so badly during loading that she broke a leg... and was travelled in that condition. Criticised for lying, saying the horses were safe when they had already destroyed them. Criticised for being found - in court - to have claimed livery fees for horses they had already killed. Need I go on?

That's heartbreaking, but I'm no longer surprised by the actions, of lack of, by the RSPCA

Lolly25 · 20/06/2019 22:28

Please make a formal complaint. This is happening so often with the RSPCA. It seems unless there is a t.v. camera they dont want to know.
Similar thing happened with a mare and foal. Horrendous.
