Hi all!

I'm just over 38 weeks and have been referred to hospital for high fetal heart rate. I had monitoring done for about an hour and they said average HR was 156 (although she was still reaching 210bpm at times). They said I have tachycardia and this could cause baby to have a high hr.

They also said I have high Haemoglobin that hadn't been picked up after my 28 week bloods. The midwife said this meant I would need to see the consultant in clinic.

Because I didn't have symptoms (nausea etc) they said I could go home but have to come back to clinic on Monday. I'm now at home and have some lower back pain and what I would describe as period type pain? It's not bad just noticeable.

Any ideas what's going on? I'm trying not to worry but this is first baby so I am a little bit 🙈 don't want to waste their time going back when they've told me all is well.

Aibu to still be worrying? Anyone had similar?

Tia 💐

I've not had similar sorry. But I'd maybe give them a call and tell them you've had pain start since you got home.
They might ask you to come back in or they might be able to reassure you, but I think it's always best to call and speak to them anyway.

Hi OP - sounds like either the head is engaging or you're starting to go into early labour.

Are there waves of pain or is it a continuous pain? If it comes and goes, how often does it happen?

I would ring triage for advice. They'll tell you to time the pains.

Probably also could be strong Braxton Hicks at this stage.

Thank you for replying :)

I'm just keeping an eye atm and taking it easy but if it continues I'll ring them again :-) she's still wiggling about so that's good :-)

She has been engaged (think they can feel 2/5) for a few weeks now so hopefully this will be labour and we can get her out safely. I'm just such a worrier as we have lost a few babies before this and I am so desperate for her to be okay :-) I couldn't care less about my own heart rate as long as she's alright!

I would take a couple of paracetamol for the period-type pain and just keep an eye on it. It could be a very early sign of labour. Also, drink lots of water - if you're dehydrated, it can cause both yours and baby's heart rate to be elevated. If, at any point, you are worried about baby's movements, or anything else, ring your local assessment centre or labour ward and they can advise you further.

How are you now, OP?

Hothotcoldhot · 19/06/2019 23:32

Better thank you :-) spoke to my mum and she talked some sense into me in regards to worrying haha and don't seem to have any pain now so i assume just stretching! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Could be the head getting lower. Or could be your body getting limbered up for labour.

I completely understand your anxiety as you've lost babies before. Of course you're worried - that's normal.

Are you ready (as ready as you can be) for labour?

LucyAutumn · 20/06/2019 00:18

I had period type pain from 3-4 days before my waters broke at 38 weeks.

Hothotcoldhot · 20/06/2019 05:13

@Jemima232 thank you :-) it's nice to know I'm not going crazy! I'm all packed etc so it's just a waiting game. I think I just want baby out and safe now :-) then I just have to spend the rest of my life worrying about them being in the big bad world 😂🙈
