What do you find to be its most useful feature? What do you use it for the most?

I'm just curious really, I use mine a lot for setting timers in the kitchen and for alarms. And I also use them as a radio for music around the house as well.

I’m still confused about whether smartphones are listening or not.

There was one called the magic door I think. It was like the old choose your own adventure books it read the story and you choose where to go next.

My DS wouldn't get up this morning so I asked Alexa to play... I know a song that will get on your nerves.. Then asked her to loop.

I wish Alexa would listen a bit more. I am currently getting constant adverts on MN trying to get me to buy tickets for an event I bought tickets for back in November.

Hello everyone, first of all- I'm not a mum, I am a design student from London, currently doing research on Smart Home Devices. Would any of you be willing to spare 5 mins of your time to answer a online research survey on Smart Devices and Families. Our aim is to understand how Smart Devices are being used at home, by different generations and ultimately to design more meaningful 'smart' devices.

Thanks a lot in advance...

We use it for controlling lights, although we can do that from the separate app for the lights too. Love being able to tell it my shopping list as I'm in the kitchen and run out of stuff and then it's always on my phone when I need it.

One of the best ones though is if we go away over night and leave the cat at home we can listen in to if she's yowling (which is one of her party tricks, run to the top of the stairs and yowl for no reason) or play music for her over the alexa if there are fireworks or something.

Timers for children to have ipad time/ do things. White noise for baby. Music and audible for me. Heating and lights in the house, great when you are breastfeeding and stuck to the sofa. Weather and news.

It controls our lights. Use it for music and podcasts on a daily basis. Also get her to add things to my shopping list and email it to me. She adds calendar appointments and each morning when I say good morning she gives me the news, weather forecast, my agenda and then plays an amazon playlist while I get dressed.
