because they have no child care. Been asked to attend during the school holidays and I have no one else to watch my children. I looked at the exemptions sheet and it doesn't mention childcare. Just wondering if anyone else had encountered this and what you did?

I was called when ds2 was 3ish months old. Phoned them and said I had a small baby and the lady in the phone told me as he was under 1 I was automatically deffered for 2 years.
Not sure if this is still the case. That was 9 years ago and I haven't been called since.

LoafofSellotape We all received a form to fill in before we started, stating they had a longer trial coming up (expected to be 6 - 8 weeks) with various questions we had to answer about why it would / wouldn't be possible for you to be selected for it.
You had to bring evidence if you claimed a booked holiday, exams, or hospital appointments etc.
They did say the fact you were needed at work or that you had dc weren't reasons, but I hope suspect they would have a "no reasons" pile, a "Genuinely can't do" pile and then also a pile of "it would be really helpful to not call any of these people" pile. I don't know, as I was lucky enough not to be called for a longer one.
On our first day, 15 people were picked and we were taken into a room and talked through it, and people were invited to say once again if there was a reason they might struggle, as they knew the case we were called for was likely to last about 7 days. Obviously you can't start a trial and then go home.
