Just that. Looking for an uplifting song to end a funeral service with for someone who's finally released from horrific suffering.

Ideally country or reggae (as those their personal preferences) Appreciate any suggestions. This is best, most beautiful, one so far but mentions a Grandad and there's no Grandad in this persons background.

Brad Paisley - When I Get Where I'm Going ft. Dolly Parton (Official Video)

Appreciate any experience and suggestions. TIA Flowers

Thanks so much for those so far, I'll try find links for them all and listen. Couple mentioned were already in long list yesterday so clearly MN still awesome at doing it's thingFlowers

There are already 2 other songs already chosen to reflect them and to honour their DC, this 3rd and final one needs to be uplifting as well as hopefully - even subtly - reflecting their release from pain and suffering to help ease the pain of loss of those left behind.

This was long list as of yesterday (copy of e-mail) if helps give flavour of what looking for:

....'anything approp by Jimmy CLiff, John Holt, or Bob Marley as last music being reggae be very appropriate; likewise Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, other country artists as they seem to cover real uplift but also honest pain at same time. Uplift is important as the 2 songs before are raw and real and want folks to leave with a positive smile, as well as being grateful they're released from their pain (if such a song that covers all of that exists).

OFFICIAL Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole - "What A Wonderful World"

Good but generic and doesn't reference positivity of their being released from pain (same as Over the Rainbow by him):

Brad Paisley - When I Get Where I'm Going ft. Dolly Parton

Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance (though same as IZ song in that whilst conveys hope for way family goes on to live, it doesn't reference the blessed relief from suffering which want folks to really hear and to gift THEM comfort).

John Holt "I'll Take A Melody"

Thank you all again, you're helping hugely - all thoughts/links most welcome. Thank you again Flowers

"Sunshine on Leith" is a lovely song for a funeral. Sad but uplifting.

I came on to suggest ‘I hope you’ll dance’ but I see you got there ahead of me. It’s a beautiful song, simultaneously sad and yet so positive. My husband and DC. are fully aware I want it played at my funeral.

There is also a beautiful folk song called The Parting Glass. My DS sang it at his Grandads funeral and it was such a lovely farewell to a lovely man. I’ve attached a link to an Irish singer called Liam `Clancy singing it but there are several lovely versions out there.

Not reggae or country (unless someone from those genres has done a cover of it) but Coming Out of the Dark by Gloria Estefan.
