To ask for recommendations for small buggies

Please help, just got back from holiday where our buggy broke on the second day! 😒 we bodged it but on the lookout for a new one now. We have a big pram that we still use so don't want to spend more than £100.

Primarily looking for:
Small
Compact fold (NOT umbrella)
Lay flat recline
Good sized hood
One handle bar
Decent wheels- think beach

I love not too far from the mamas and papas outlet and went for a look today, I like the solo 2 (only £79 there) but it still seemed quite big when folded and I need to fit it in with a weeks worth of camping gear!

Thanks for your help guys!

Mamas and papas outlet page on Facebook. My armadillo was £99 and it ticks every box.

I ended up selling my buffalo I love it so much

I loved my MacLaren techno. Amazing from birth to 3- was second hand when I got it and SIL got another 2 years after me

GB pockit stroller

ColdToesHere · 17/06/2019 22:23

GB pockit stroller is 100% not the buggy the OP wants!!
It’s the opposite of what she has asked for.
It’s has tiny wheels, a tiny hood and doesn’t recline at all. as well as having two handles not one.

Shitsandgigglez · 17/06/2019 22:29

Can I ask why not umbrella?

Shitsandgigglez · 17/06/2019 22:30

I have a suggestion that ticks all the boxes but it is umbrella

Joie pact

The one we have now is umbrella but I want a smaller footprint when it's folded. We have a large estate can but it still takes up the length or width of the boot so
Wanted something that didn't take up as much space when we are camping for a week and have the tent, travel cot, chairs etc to fit in too.

Also umbrella tends to be 2 handles not one and I need something I can steer one handed. Grin

Some of your requirements are contradictory. If you want off road like going on the beach then you usually get a larger pushchair because it has larger wheels. Best pushchair I ever owned by a mile was a Baby Jogger City Mini GT - you could probably get one second hand for less than £100. I wouldn't say its small though - its fairly heavy but folds neatly in half, big hood, off road, one handle, goes flat.

Another thing to think about that is often overlooked is how heavy your child is - most are only tested to 15kg so if you have a child in the top centiles you probably don't want a lightweight buggy, particularly if you want to take it off road, as they will be over the weight limit too early and you will just have to get something else.

Babyzen yoyo is amazing, but not for beach. The wheels are small otherwise it ticks all your bixes.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 17/06/2019 23:48

They don’t make them anymore so second hand will be your only choice, but we have a Mamas and Papas Armadillo Sport that is pretty much everything you want.
MASSIVE hood, reclines all the way (and the footrest comes up, meaning the child lies totally flat, unlike the BJCM where their legs hang down), folds up in half forwards rather than umbrella fold, 3 chunky wheels, one handlebar.
It might not fold quite as small as you’d like but it’s amazing.

I was going to recommend the Zeta Voom stroller which you can get off amazon. It is £50 which I think is ideal for a holiday stroller price. It lies back and has a really good size hood but it is umbrella fold.

Baby Jogger City Mini GT is an excellent buggy but I think it folds up quite big - it's quite a big buggy overall. But it's got a huge hood and lies back flat and all-terrain wheels. I'm not sure even second hand would be under £100 though...

Bibijayne · 18/06/2019 08:01

Pockit GB+ - ours was just under £100 in the John Lewis sale.

BertieBotts · 18/06/2019 08:07

I wouldn't worry about the 15kg thing. In the EU buggies that have a weight limit have to be tested to 1.5x that limit. It's not like a car seat where it might have life changing consequences. You'll just find it takes on wear and tear more quickly if you're using it for a heavier child.

Besides 15kg is 50th centile for about a three and a half year old and over 3 even at the 75th centile.
