To expect management to get my name right after 2 years!

Ok I have a feeling I'm blowing this out of proportion but getting really tired of it now.
My name is Danielle. A fairly common name for my age group and simple enough to spell?
I've been with my work for almost 2 years and it's a smallish team of around 15 employees with only one Danielle... Me.
I am a counsellor so there are number of supervisors. I have a new supervisor who was previously a counsellor like me but got promoted. She has worked will me for the past 2 years and is now sending me emails and memos with 'Dannielle' as my name despite my card, email, office door and signature spelling my name. The thing is other supervisors are now doing it!
I'm going to speak to her about it but it's really annoyed me so felt I needed a rant.
I know i am probably being unreasonable lol

My name is never spelled right too but there is too much else going on in the world to get over stressed about that - although I have pointed out to repeat offenders who spell it wrong when giving out my email it means I dont get the email! Even family member's and old friends spell it wrong.

Runmoreorless · 17/06/2019 11:51

I think if she's done it lots of times and you haven't corrected her she probably just thinks it's correct.

If someone points this kind of error out to me, but I'm mortified that I didn't realise sooner but once I was used to "my" I spelling I probably wouldn't notice that it's different on businesscards etc

My name's Karen. Had a boss call me Leslie - not once, repeatedly.

I couldn't for the life of me work out how anyone gets Leslie from Karen. Apparently he was calling me after Leslie Caron, an actress...

Not unreasonable to be annoyed. But tell her. In a non grumpy way- like "I've noticed you've been spelling my name Dannielle. Just to say its spelt Danielle. Thanks"

S1naidSucks · 17/06/2019 12:14

Just wait until your place becomes woke, then you can have fun. When they first tell you that you have to tell everyone your pronoun, you can point out that since they can’t remember how to spell your name correctly, you refuse to confuse them anymore with adding a pronoun. Grin

Ive got a name that everyone gets wrong. It helps to correct gently as soon as possible.

AngelaJ18 · 17/06/2019 12:26

I’ve been called Amanda, Angelina and Abigail. Worst are the managers who see fit to abbreviate my name. We’re not friends, you can suffer through all three syllables thank you!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 17/06/2019 12:34

Being charitable, could they have accidentally set an auto-correct to their spelling from the right one?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 17/06/2019 12:36

And yes it sounds trivial on the surface, but it's your name. If someone corrects you on how it is spelled or pronounced, it's basic manners to go with that.

(I have a lifetime of people telling me how they think my surname is spelled, even when I have already told them differently. My patience has worn through.)

Hecateh · 17/06/2019 12:59

I sympathise but have got used to it
My surname has an 'e' on the end but the normal spelling doesn't.
I unfortunately compounded this with my children with both their first and middle names having alternative spellings. Blush
