another GDPR question re: emails

Hi, its another GDPR question sorry!

Can I forward emails and attachments to my personal email account?

So, in my case, if my manager is sending me emails in which I am sworn at and other unprofessional things, can I forward it to my personal email account in the event that it might be deleted / redacted / denied / edited when I raise a grievance?

I realise I can also print it / screenshot it, but I feel if its forwarded to my personal email account, then its less likely that I will lose it.

As I have already recieved it, I wasn't sure if doing this would be a GDPR breach?

And also attachments - can I forward reports created by myself to my personal email account to evidence good performance (which my manager denies). Some of these reports have names and job titles in them but not any other data.

I am worried about doing anything that could be turned back upon me but ACAS told me to gather evidence to support my grievance so I'm a bit confused about what I'm allowed to do.

Thanks for any help

GDPR aside, there must be something in your company handbook about that, I can't see any decent company not covering their backside and banning it!

My employer would sack me if I forwarded work stuff to my home email. Not for GDPR, but because, for security and confidentiality reasons we're not allowed to send anything to home address.

As far as I am aware, with GDPR, it’s about how personal data is stored and shared. If your manager has sent you an email, they have already shared what information is in that email with you. Providing you don’t also have sensitive information about customers/service users etc., I can’t personally see how you would be in breach. Your organisation might have rules relating to sending emails to your personal account but I - and I am not a legal expert! - wonder whether such rules would be enforceable when it came to a claim that someone was bullying you. How else would you be able to get restitution?

Plus, under a subject access request I think you are entitled to it anyway. It’s YOUR data, isn’t it?

If you are in doubt could you set up a new free email address just to email the things to? Then if there is an argument about it there isn't the risk of them going through all your personal emails.

It would not breech gdpr but possibly workplace policies resulting in disciplinary action. As long as it is your personal information, not others'.

I would screen shot/print it and keep the original email in my inbox as if you foward it then you can edit the original email so theres no proof who wrote it!
