To wonder how you cope with heavy periods?

I feel ridiculous even typing this as it's been almost 20 years since I had my first period. I feel I should know this, but I have never had excruciatingly heavy periods until now.

I gave birth a few months ago, and my periods came back like clockwork despite ebf. They are so heavy that I get through a tampon and a pad in the space of 90 minutes. I had to go as far as buying Tena pants the other day as even the pads weren't absorbent enough! I had a long journey with no toilet and was so scared I would leak.

AIBU to ask how to cope with this? Do I need to invest in a mooncup? I'm struggling.

When I was barely getting 45 mins from a Super Plus Tampon and a towel, I finally went to my GP. Gynae referral, surgery to remove a large fibroid in my uterine cavity( knew I had fibroids but none were inside the cavity pre - children) and a subsequent Mirena coil have meant 18 months so far of no bleeding at all. Complete life changer. Before I sought help, some days I was worried I might bleed to death, it was that heavy and I felt so ill.

A moon cup saved me. Also tranexamic acid over the counter in Boots. You can only buy it otc in Boots for some reason

Also high dose ibuprofen taken regularly helps.

Getting a coil fitted as 4 years post baby they are still unmanageable. They were always painful but now heavy too and I cannot function. Leaving meetings after 45 minutes to change tampon/towel and dreading journeys.
