To ask about your DC's narrow feet and school shoes?

Posting for traffic as S&B is far too quiet.

My dd is in her first year of high school and has to have black shoes, no boots, nothing remotely resembling a trainer etc.

She is a C/D fitting. It's a fucking nightmare. Nothing fits as the narrowest available is an E and even with an insole they are too wide and/or deep.

She has her heart set on kickers ankle boots which school do allow. I'm not a fan as with a skirt they look odd but she won't wear trousers and she's 12, she wants what "everyone else" wears.

She's tried on kickers and the assistant told her they were far too wide and as her feet are a half size that she'd need the next whole size up in any shoes that didn't come in half sizes.

I was a D fitting at her age and know her pain. I live my life in trainers as shoes just don't fit.

What are the best shoes for very narrow feet? She's narrow around the heel too. She walks a fair distance to and from school each day so needs something sturdy (she's also had her eye on ballet flats 🙄).

Help!

Startrite can order in a D. But hardly kickers type shoes I know.

Otherwise European brands are better for narrow feet. And expensive designer shoes. Sorry!

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 16/06/2019 20:33

Startrite do one shoe in a D. It doesn't fit. Ive not tried European shoes before-are they usually in independent shops?

We've tried startrite, Clark's, John Lewis, geox, M&S, supermarkets.

DD2 had some Ricosta "Kate"... but they're not kickers.

DD1 was like that with Dr Martens till she eventually bought herself a pair with Christmas money and realised she could just about get two feet in one boot!

would these fit? they come in a d

DelurkingAJ · 16/06/2019 20:41

I have AA fitting feet and can buy some shoes from Jones if she’d look there. Otherwise look for European brands (they all seem to come up narrow) or consider an impromptu visit to the US (joking aside I used to bring back many shoes as narrow feet are endemic there!).

Possibly no good for school although my dd gets away with a black pair. Converse are v narrow.

Yabu. Find a more appropriate topic.

Brands wise... I find Tamaris, Marco Tozzi, Amalfi by Rangoni, Barker and Evan-Picone we’re brands I’ve found in the U.K. before. Some were at a (now sadly defunct) specialist shoe shop. But Tamaris I’ve found on the High Street.

My daughter is also a C/D fitting. We tried Clark’s last time and the only one that fit was unsuitable as it was a ballet flat- which is against uniform code AND unsuitable for walking to school in all weather.

We ended up with Dr Martens. These ones, but all black (no yellow stitching!) www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/p/12916001

They are expensive, but the first pair she had lasted from sept 17- nov 18 and her second pair is still going strong.

DD used to wear black leather Keds.
