AIBU to ask what suntan lotion you use on your face?

Just that really....

Each year I try something new - it always runs into my eyes with sweat, just on a normal day, and stings - so my eyes stream and I have to take my contacts out!

So

  1. What do you use and what do you think of it?
  2. Any experience of the P20 lasts for 10+ hours?

Thanks! This is the summer I'm going to get it nailed.....

Another vote for la Roche posay
Or no 7 perfect and protect facial sun cream is nice often 2 for 20quid

AriadneCrete · 16/06/2019 19:27

I use La Roche Posay Anthelios or Soleil Mineral Sunscreen. I have dark skin and the main thing I look for in a suntan lotion is that it doesn’t leave a horrible white cast, which neither of those do.

hazeyjane · 16/06/2019 19:29

La Roche Posay one in the link earlier. I have really sensitive skin and contacts and it never stings my eyes and is good under make up. I top it up in the day and wear a hat when out in the playground at work.

Dh uses p20 on his face and it does make his eyes sting and feels quite oily. But it is very effective and he works outdoors and has vitiligo so needs to keep his skin protected.

Chwar Shock I’m shocked a doctor would say something as foolish as that.

I’ve just been told by my skin cancer specialist to never go out without 50 spf;you don’t need to burn to get cancer and after a few years your skin has had enough of sun exposure.

SPF in moisturiser isn’t good enough, there has been a for bit in the media about it.

I use nothing in the UK but abroad I use Green People Kids and get along well.
In the UK I prefer to use hats/scarves/sunglasses/shade/brolly

Livpool · 16/06/2019 20:09

Boots No.7 spf 50

I like to wear a high sunscreen on my face - I can always add a bit of fake tan for a bit of colour

Herbalteahippie · 16/06/2019 20:12

Moogoo SPF30 zinc oxide natural ingredients, waterproof and clear without feeling heavy and sticky like the others do.
Chanel cc cream is also good spf 40 but not natural.

millythepink · 16/06/2019 20:12

I have sensitive skin and eyes but am fine using Biore Watery Essence spf 50 on my face, even around my eyes. I use about a third of a teaspoon for my whole face and leave to sink in while I dry my hair. Follow with IT CC cream SPF 50, and whilst in the UK I really think it's enough.

If abroad I use slightly more Biore + hat + big sunglasses. Went to an open day at a local skin clinic and they tested my skin for sun damage. Apparently, I have very little sun damage Smile

LongWalkShortPlank · 16/06/2019 20:12

Definitely the biore Watery gel, you can get it on amazon. Its so good under makeup that I don't need primer anymore and don't look greasy at all.

ethelfleda · 16/06/2019 20:13

Where one designed for babies Smile

ethelfleda · 16/06/2019 20:13

FFS WEAR not WHERE

voxnihili · 16/06/2019 20:20

I really suffer with this too. The only thing that works for me is the Boots Soltan Kids Sun stick factor 50. It doesn't run into my eyes through sweat, or swimming.

Charley50 · 16/06/2019 20:21

I have Bioderma 50+. It comes in tinted as well. Seems fine to me and I try not to get it in my eyes Grin.
Don't understand why a doctor interfered in whether you put lotion you put on your face or not!

Bloomburger · 16/06/2019 20:26

Biore water one.

Goodnamesalltaken · 16/06/2019 20:31

I love heliocare 360. They have quite a few in their range but I particular like the tinted one which is just like a foundation or the gel oil free. They are all spf 50 broad spectrum

Popc0rn · 16/06/2019 21:41

October - March, or days when I'm not outside much: No7 Hydra Luminous Day Lotion SPF 15, 5 Star UVA, plus No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream for Normal / Oily Skin, also SPF 15, 5 star UVA.

April - September, or days when I'm outside a lot: Soltan Once Face Advanced 8 Hour Protect Face lotion SPF 30, 5 Star UVA. I tried the SPF 50 version too, but the 30 makes my face look less shiny.

I like these ones because they all have a 5 star UVA rating, and UVA rays are the ones that age you. I've tried a fair few sunscreens and they pretty much all make my face shiny, I have oily skin anyway. I try to apply it, let it "sink in" for 15 minutes, then put a bit of translucent powder over it.

Izzy24 · 16/06/2019 21:43

Another one using La Roche Posay.

Use it all year round. Fab

MotherOfSoupDragons · 16/06/2019 21:45

Clinique City Block spf 40.

babysharkah · 16/06/2019 21:46

La Roche posay. You need a specific sunscreen, the amount of moisturiser you need to get the full spf on the label isn't achievable.

Gth1234 · 16/06/2019 21:55

Any experience of the P20 lasts for 10+ hours?
nothing last 10 hours.

Saltisford · 16/06/2019 22:49

Clarins bb fluid with spf in it. It definitely works... and is also a light foundation

IM0GEN · 16/06/2019 22:58

I use this on my face , neck and décolletage, even in the Uk. I’m surprised at people who think a hat is an alternative. Please please use a good sunscreen, you will thank me when you are 60.
