I took on tenancy almost six months ago. Lovely little house not perfect but we (me and ddog) were happy here. Finally got the house organised the way I wanted and felt like home. Tenancy was a 6 month one but then to fall onto a rolling monthly contract.
Bang on month 4 I get notice to leave at the end of 6 months. Came a bit out of the blue. Landlord very cagey about why he wanted me to leave. He told me he was moving back into the house as he was splitting with his partner but told my neighbours that he was going to let the house on an air b&b.
Roll on 6 weeks and I’ve found a lovely little cottage in next town. Has much more character and more my style. Has a lovely low maintenance private garden that I could sit out in (current garden is out front of the house). Landlady for cottage isn’t local and won’t be watching my every move. Deposits paid and referencing going through. Agreed 12 months lease. Move date set.
Then current landlord suddenly decides he doesn’t want me to leave after all. Has offered me to stay on. Has also agreed to sign agreement for 12 months.
New house is slightly more expensive. In a very touristy town and parking may be an issue. I can park right outside current house. I was very happy here and was really upset when I was asked to leave but have come to terms with moving and now I have slightly fallen in love with new house.
Financially things are very tight at the moment and I am stretching to be able to afford new house especially I end up having to pay for parking. Plus I would have all the cost of moving which I can barely afford. The financial sensible decision is to stay put and not move but I think my head had moved already.
AIBU to move anyway? Even if it’s not the most financially sensible decision. WWUD?
