People actually snip them in half ????? Bloody hell - Boak 🤢 🤮
I once saw a neon orange one in my garden once. I was fascinated and revolted in equal amounts.

Fuck that, think I'm going to be sick.

I'm going to go all snowflake now... Warning in the title so people -I- don't open whilst eating 😫

CustardySergeant · 15/06/2019 12:30

SirVixofVixHall "I like slugs."

Why? What is it you like about them? They repulse me and I wish there'd been a warning in the title of this thread that it contains a photo of slugs.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2019 13:52

Why do I like them ? I think they are beautiful. I like their eyes. Also love snails, worms, woodlice etc.

RainbowPanda · 15/06/2019 16:53

I watched last night gardeners world and they suggested a garlic wash to save plants from slugs. I have a hosta that's not doing very well due to being munched on I'm going to try that. It doesn't kill them, just repels them as they don't like garlic.

LakieLady · 15/06/2019 16:59

I accidentally trod on one in bare feet once. Simultaneous guilt and revulsion.

I felt no guilt, only revulsion. It squirted vile slug juice up my bare leg.

We get them in the kitchen at night. I no longer venture into the kitchen in the dark, I turn the light on to make sure I can see the fuckers.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/06/2019 17:36

Slugs are useful as - apart from being a useful source of food - they eat decaying plant matter. Apparently some will also eat faeces.

I've got a Roman Snail shell that I picked up when doing some conservation work (had to check the area beforehand to make sure none were harmed).

It's a sandy colour. Makes it blend in better with the conditions they like so much, as chalk isn't white when it's part of the ground (at least on the patch of downland I was working on, anyhow).

I think the smaller snails are cute, especially the striped ones like the brown lipped snail. And they tickle when you let them trundle over your hand.

LadyRannaldini · 15/06/2019 19:17

Salt, don't care who I upset either!

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2019 22:14

Striped yellow and brown ones (Banded snails) are the most common snail where I live. I see far fewer standard brown Garden snails. Although I don’t have loads of snails at all as I have blackbirds. My Hosta remains unchewed !
