I'll join you. I have recently retired from a job in which I worked long hours and had a long commute. By the time I got home (never before 7.30 and often not until 8.30), I was too exhausted to do anything.
One of my priorities is to lose weight and get fit. I joined a gym and so far have lost about 10 pounds, which is encouraging, but there is still a long way to go (I really ought to lose another 5 stone, though that is a bit daunting so my interim target is to lose 2.5 more and then take stock.
The summer weather is helping, as I am eating much better. I'm not counting calories, but I have given up bread, which makes me feel bloated, and of course that means I have also cut down on butter. I don't eat crisps or sweets, and don't drink alcohol or fizzy drinks, which is helpful. However, I do like cream on my strawberries, and my big weakness is chocolate.
The big difference I have noticed so far is that I find walking up stairs, or uphill easier than I used to. I'm not keen on running at the moment. I think I need to lose more weight before I do that, because it puts my knees under too much pressure. I have been enjoying the rowing machine, find the cross trainer good, but exhausting, and swim and do an aqua aerobics class twice a week. I find don't feel as self conscious in the water as I would out of it (probably because the average age in the class is fairly high and it's not full of fit slim people, unlike lots of the other classes seem to be!
