To think we are fucked if Boris becomes PM?

Imagine having that buffoon as prime minister. In fact we're going to be fucked regardless of who wins the leadership.

Will there be a GE?

I was once told that their only needs to be 5% of the country to display extreme right wings views for the right to take over. It’s happening. It’s beyond scary. Anyone who isn’t a well off middle aged white man is essentially fucked.

@HazelBite

According to John Prescott

Boris exceeded the low expectations of him well enough to be re-elected in 2012 and now, after two full terms, he comes to the end of his time basking in the approval of a majority of Londoners

So not a bad accolade from a Labour politician.

RomanyQueen · 12/06/2019 19:27

How soon can we have a GE? We need labour back again, not cons making fat cats fatter.

Hazlenutpie · 12/06/2019 19:30

I'm a floating voter but the thought of Corbyn being PM makes me feel physically sick.

givemesteel · 12/06/2019 19:30

I'd be interested to know if any of the people on threads like these would have voted Conservative but won't if it is Boris (and who they would actually vote for out of the Conservative candidates in a general election).

Otherwise isn't it a bit academic - just people who would never vote tory anyway complaining about the latest (probable) tory PM, but wouldn't even vote for a more 'centrist' candidate?

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 12/06/2019 19:30

Beth Rigby being booed today at Johnson’s campaign launch really is a sign of where things have got to. Chilling

Yes, agree.

Journalist booed at press conference for asking a question. Seriously. What the fuck have we come to?

And can we stop calling him Boris, please? Call him by his surname like we do everyone else. He's not your mate. He wouldn't piss on most of us if we were on fire. Don't buy into it.

He is definitely a fucking Johnson, though.

LagunaBubbles · 12/06/2019 19:33

Boris is the gift that keeps on giving as far as I'm concerned regarding Scottish Independence, I'm in the west of Scotland.

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 12/06/2019 19:39

I'm no apologist for Rory Stewart, he's my MP and I can't stand him. Anyone who voted for the cuts to disability benefits are repulsive in my eyes. He was hopeless when I asked him for help with something quite serious. He's actually a bit of a clown and famously said that Carlisle's flood defences 'hadn't failed, the water had just came over the top' and he also got caught spouting nonsensical statistics about Brexit recently. He would never stand for the Liberal Democrats as his seat here is very, very safe .

I wouldn’t, but as much as I disliked the politics of Cameron and May they didn’t provoke such a visceral feeling of dread the Johnson does. His politics reflect a lurch to the right and an indulgence of abhorrent views that the conservatism of recent years has not given in to.

DarkAtEndOfTunnel · 12/06/2019 19:41

Laguna, how are English people who want to get the heck away from all this viewed there? Is there any room for a few more?

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 12/06/2019 19:42

I get very worried when personality becomes the main reason for voting for a politician. We need clever, thoughtful politicians not clowns spouting soundbites.

lolaflores · 12/06/2019 20:03

If the government loses its majority, that will trigger a GE. So if 5 mps either cross the floor, die, resign their constituency... and so on, then they dont have a mandate and its GE time.
That is my understanding

Whether or not that perfect storm occurs is in the lap of the gods.

LagunaBubbles · 12/06/2019 20:45

Darkendofthetunnel always room! Generally I think it's just an air of feeling sorry for English people who didn't vote Tory, independence has become a more viable option, not because of any anti English sentiment but anti Westminster. At least we have a little hope.
