My DS is just about to embark on a year-long stint in Tokyo and Beijing.
Last time he went to Beijing I had him insured by Aviva and they refused to pay out on a hospital visit based on a silly technicality.
Here's what happened: After DS was bitten by a dog, Aviva advised on the phone that we had cover. BUT, when it came time to send in my claim, they said they would only pay AFTER I had been refused by his usual health insurers (French SECU) - a refusal we were bound to get. Aviva required a document to prove we had been refused, and also insisted on being sent the original receipts.
French SECU in turn refused to consider the claim unless they were sent the originals, which they then refused to send back to me (after refusing my claim).
So Aviva of course got out of paying, because I could only produce photocopies of the hospital receipts.
Want to avoid any such nonsense this time around.
I have looked on Which and am coming up with Leisure Guard Direct, HolidaySafe, Leisure Care, LetsGoInsure, Insured to Travel.
Does anyone have any experience with these names, or thoughts they can share?
DS now resides in the UK if that makes a difference
Thank you very much
