Feel sick after every damn meal!

I am sorry, posting here for traffic as I’ve had enough. Had an endoscopy and a sigmoidoscopy and no answers. I have had several bouts of D&V this year; and I feel so nauseated and sick all the damn time. I ate three biscuits as a snack and feel so unwell. MN usually very good at providing answers that haven’t been considered - please help.

You need to go back to GP for more investigations.
Could be multiple things that are not found when scoped.

WhiteRedRose · 10/06/2019 21:49

You also need a referral to a dietician to start and elimination diet.

WhiteRedRose · 10/06/2019 21:50

an* eliminiation. Bloody phone.

moreismore · 10/06/2019 21:51

Anecdotally-intolerance of dairy especially but also gluten after those sorts of bugs. I would take some probiotics too.

notlikelybyhalf · 10/06/2019 21:52

Addison’s disease?

Is your skin hyper pigmented like you have a tan (not jaundice)

Custardandnoodle · 10/06/2019 21:57

helicobacter pylori? Go back to the gp. Have you had antibiotics recently? If so, they wipe out your good gut bacteria- I'd echo probiotics. I was ill for months and tested for everything (celiac, helicobacter etc) and in the end it was acidophilus tablets from holland and Barretts that helped. Otherwise it might be the elimination diet it. Start with pear and lamb basically.

milkjetmum · 10/06/2019 22:01

Gallstones? I felt like this in the run up to the first (unmistakable) painful attack. Kept thinking I might be pregnant. If fat free foods don't cause the nausea that could be a clue. Also felt this way when hungry after diagnosis.

Feelingwalkedover · 10/06/2019 22:17

I’m like this if I go too long no with out food..today was a busy day and I didn’t eat untill 6 pm.then I spent an hour feeling sick.
Could you try eating small and often

Yinyen · 10/06/2019 22:18

I was like this turned out I'm massively wheat intolerant (but not a coeliac). Feel fine if eat no wheat, but if have some feel rotten for a couple of days

londonrach · 10/06/2019 22:20

I remember having this as a teenager. Hated it. Return to gp. I had had antibiotics and killed bacteria everywhere including the gut. Hope better soon x

bluedoor4 · 10/06/2019 23:09

I had this recently and also thought I was pregnant. I wasn't.. it was bile duct/liver related. Gallbladder problems aren't always painful at the beginning.
I also had constant nausea around 6 months ago- that time it wasn't directly after eating but all the time. Ended up being hyperthyroidism and I think the constant adrenaline and low blood sugar caused the sick feeling.
My sister suffers with a few weeks of nausea whenever she's got her gut bacteria in a bad way ie. post antibiotics or food poisoning.

IM0GEN · 10/06/2019 23:11

Write down every single thing you eat or drink ( except plain water ) and log all your symptoms.

shockthemonkey · 10/06/2019 23:51

Had something very similar. Specialists couldn’t figure it out after multiple tests and investigations incl endoscopy, colonoscopy and bloods. Went on a five-day fast and have not looked back. Slowly reintroducing foods according to a strict schedule and so far so good. Am thinking I may eventually find I have a specific intolerance when I reintroduce gluten or red meat or shellfish or similar, OR, I may just be one of those people whose intestines appreciate the odd break.

I would really recommend fasting — properly supervised of course. The comfort I regained has been glorious, and the whole experience has made me réalisé how long I’d been living in discomfort.

CathScarlett · 11/06/2019 00:01

It couldn't be anxiety, could it?

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 11/06/2019 00:23

A friend of mine developed a very serious gluten allergy after a stomach virus, so that’s something to investigate. But those illnesses trash your gut bacteria - after food poisoning I found it was months before I could eat normally.

Definitely get some professional help, but good probiotics might aid you. YMMV, but I found miso was about the only thing which didn’t irritate my digestion, so drank a lot of miso soup with ginger. It’s a fermented product so good for you anyway, and it’s quite nutritious.

musicposy · 11/06/2019 01:00

I had this and it turned out to be coeliac disease. I felt so sick the whole time and had to force stuff in. I was given a ton of stomach medication, nothing helped. The endoscopy picked up the coeliac by biopsy, but only on the third one. They didn't take a biopsy of my intestine on 1 or 2. By that time I was really very ill.

I'd write down absolutely everything you eat. Trouble with something like coeliac, it'll take a while to heal and so you won't feel better straight away (I actually felt worse for a while). It might be worth looking at a complete elimination diet for a bit and gradually adding stuff back in. But get the coeliac test first, if you haven't already, as it won't show up once you cut out gluten.

Nitpickpicnic · 11/06/2019 01:02

Seconding adding fermented food to your diet. It can’t hurt to do, while you persue further tests. If you can, go with fermented veggies (like the sauerkraut in the fridge aisle). It has a more complex mix of good gut bacteria than lots of other fermented foods. You’re basically looking to repopulate your gut with the good stuff.

Only a tablespoon a day can make a huge difference. If you really can’t stand the taste, whizz it into a fruit smoothie. Just don’t heat it, or eat it with hot food. Sounds bonkers, but I promise there’s real research behind it.

Aquamarine1029 · 11/06/2019 02:18

I would get my gallbladder function tested. Even if you don't have stones, it makes you very sick. This happened to me.

Decormad38 · 11/06/2019 03:00

You’ve received 50 different reasons here on this thread. I would consult a doctor rather than Mumsnet to be honest.

It's whatever you're ingesting.

I did that multiple times over many months and was told I was depressed and there was nothing wrong with me. It was only once I was admitted to hospital too weak to walk from bedroom to bathroom, a BMI of 16 and with everything in my body failing, that they found the coeliac disease.

I still have some ongoing issues from how long it was undiagnosed. If someone on mumsnet had suggested it as a possibility to ask the doctor (who never checked for it despite me now knowing I had virtually every single symptom) they might have saved me nearly a month in hospital and the best part of a year of my life too ill to function.

Likethebattle · 11/06/2019 08:59

I have acid reflux and if it’s not kept under control I feel nauseous after eating. Although an endoscopy should pick that up.

Didn’t you read the OP? She has already seen a doctor, been in hospital for tests and they have found nothing . None of the suggestions that the Op has received will do her any harm while she is waiting to be seen again.

A food diary, pro biotics, fermented foods, avoiding gluten or high fat foods. An elimination diet done correctly.

All of these are free / low costs and relatively easy, compared with months of being unwell.

Feeling sick after three biscuits indicates an issue with gluten to me, as it does to several other posters.

It could be coeliac disease or an intolerance. Intolerance probably won’t show up on any physical tests but it doesn’t mean it’s not real or can’t have a HUGE impact on your quality of life.

A detailed food and symptom diary will give clues to any suspect foods.

femfemlicious · 28/03/2020 04:23

@Bloodytummy were you able to get to the bottom of this. Ive had 2 weeks of intense nausea and vomiting. Unfortunately this is happening during coronavirus and i cant see a dr. I am so weak cant keep anything down. I even vomited water today.

SleepyKYP · 28/03/2020 04:33

I had this where no matter what I ate I would feel nauseous after and realised it was due to some internal stress, anxiety. I say internal as I never felt like I was stressed and anyone who knows me says I am the most laid back person ever. However when I looked at when I was having this issue it was at time where I was occupied with preparing for important events like weddings. I also had an endoscopy which showed nothing. With all that is going on at the moment I feel it coming back but if someone asked me how i feel about it i would never go straight to anxious or worried. Is there anything in your life right now that might cause you anxiety?
