Wedding dresses

My lovely wife and I have been married for several years. We are both middle-aged, and our parents have passed away. Before we got married, we went (just the two of us) to a shop that sold second hand wedding dresses, because we both had the sense to have an inexpensive wedding.
We chose a very nice wedding dress, but it took a long time. when I took the dress to the counter, I said to the cashier "Here it is! It only took two hours to decide!"
She replied "Oh-not long then!"
Is this normal?

You need to get a hobby. I know Sunday nights can be boring but fgs...

Gardai · 09/06/2019 21:00

Whitedust - he’s already married

OldUnit · 09/06/2019 21:01

Exactly what @Doobigetta said. Hmm

S1naidSucks · 09/06/2019 21:02

🤷‍♀️

Wonkybanana · 09/06/2019 21:03

Oh look. A MAN has decided to amuse the ladies - for his own amusement.

Why thank you sire. Whatever would we talk about without you, eh?

WhiteDust · 09/06/2019 21:04

Gard
Oh! So this happened years ago... missed that.

Peregrina · 09/06/2019 21:05

Well, I could tell you about how long my DH dithered about his wedding suit. More than 40 years later, he still dithers about buying clothes.

Duck90 · 09/06/2019 21:07

If you are in a second hand dress shop, you don’t have the luxury of going away to think about it! They tend to be unique items, once it’s gone it’s gone. Plus trying them on will take time. It’s not like throwing on a coat.

Gardai · 09/06/2019 21:07

Bet the wife to be was really chuffed looking at second hand wedding dresses for two hours with you, you hilarious tease.
You still married OP ?

MrsXyzAbc · 09/06/2019 21:08

Took me a few months to decide on my wedding dress. So I'd say 2hrs is pretty much lightening speedGrin

mondaysaturday · 09/06/2019 21:10

What fresh hell is this?

Dahlietta · 09/06/2019 21:11

Well, this has cheered me up, actually. How preposterous!

Babyduck2 · 09/06/2019 21:13

I chose mine in less time then that, and I only paid £5.50 for it on eBay!

wildcherries · 09/06/2019 21:18

I'm just here for the incredulous responses. Bizzare post.

Allhailthesun · 09/06/2019 21:26

This post makes my skin crawl.

Wish I could think of a witty put down. Thanks to those of you that have.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/06/2019 21:28

Worra 😂

DistanceCall · 09/06/2019 21:32

So someone is fishing for "hilarious" stories about how long the wimmin take to make up their minds about wedding dresses.

Deadline for a story looming, OP?

Ghanagirl · 09/06/2019 21:33

Thing is OP, it’s not a remotely funny or interesting post.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 09/06/2019 21:33

Your OP is a little ambiguous as to whether the wedding dress was for your wife or for you. If for you, I think two hours wouldn't be an excessive amount of time to find one that would flatter a more masculine physique.

DoAsSayNotAsDo · 09/06/2019 21:37

I'd say 2hrs is short if going to wedding dress shops/boutiques as it's not just about making the decision on the dress, it's getting in & out if them (which can take time with corsets/buttons and normally needs a second pair of hands!) then seeing how you look, then maybe going to another shop/going away to think about it... depending on what parameters you put on it, I could say it took 3mths for me to find a wedding dress, but that's including life/work, not just dress shopping!

LeavesAndGreenTrees · 09/06/2019 21:48

Why did you feel the need to share this odd little anecdote now? Years later? Please keep to yourself next time.

Duck90 · 09/06/2019 22:10

Please tell me that you don’t use this thrilling anecdote at dinner parties 🥳. The way you tell it, i can imagine the tumble weed going through the room

Sparadrap · 09/06/2019 22:22

Fascinating story Biscuit
