Reasonable time to ask him to stop signing

My next door neighbours have lived beside me for about five years now. When they first moved in they were really noisy, loud screaming matches late at night, doors slamming and then the signing - the type drinks do when walking home from the pub. But in the bedroom right beside ours!

Then they had a baby and all went quiet. Until now.

The yelling is starting again, and the bloody signing. It’s at the top of his lungs and the last two nights has gone on passed 11. My daughter thinks it’s funny, but she won’t sleep through it. My boyfriend is away on business p, but he usually tells me to chill.

I am going to ask them if the signing can stop at 9pm on week nights and 10pm at weekends - reasonable cut off? I know 9 seems early but it’s still an hour after my daughters bedtime.

Singing?

Chune · 08/06/2019 09:00

Is this where we all laugh heartily at the ‘hilarious’ signing/singing mix up?

underneaththeash · 08/06/2019 09:00

OP do you mean singing?
I'd just sing very loudly too, they may be unaware that you can hear them.

Singlenotsingle · 08/06/2019 09:00

What's signing?

MrsxRocky · 08/06/2019 09:02

I wouldn't even speak to them. I'd phone environmental if it's on going and get recordings of it.
I couldn't live next to that.
I used to live next to a night shift worker who's dog used to howl from minute she left to when she came back every bloody night.
So 8pm to 5am and it went on for weeks.
They would send people out to record noise disturbance and send her letters etc. Got sorted that way without me having to get involved so she never knew who was making complaints. Less drama for me when bumping into neighbour.

Dippypippy1980 · 08/06/2019 09:03

Sorry - stupid typo. Yes he is belting out various hits from the eighties.

ffs it's obviously singing, it's the weekend and school is off until monday.
it is not u to speak with him about keeping the noise down a bit, give it a go although i wouldn't jump in with times to begin with.

Dippypippy1980 · 08/06/2019 09:05

Think living next door to this

Reasonable time to ask him to stop signing

Ok - I’ll try and catch them today and just ask them to keep it down in the evenings.

He’s not too smart, but must know we can hear him yelling. I try not to be too uptight about noise because I am sure they can hear us - but they seem to be totally oblivious. Or really selfish.

A few weeks ago it was 2am. It’s also a bit odd.

You can't ask him to stop signing.

Sicario · 08/06/2019 09:12

A flaming envelope (filled with dog poo) through the letterbox?

croprotationinthe13thcentury · 08/06/2019 09:31

Just stick your music on a couple of nights mega loud as soon as he starts.

BlackCatSleeping · 08/06/2019 09:32

Bang on the wall and shout, "Shut the fuck up, you wanker"?

🤷‍♀️

Dippypippy1980 · 08/06/2019 09:35

Great ideas - I hate confrontation and am worried about starting g a war. Hopefully he will be reasonable if I lightly ask him to cut back on the vocals at night.

PregnantSea · 08/06/2019 09:37

I would bang on the wall and shout shut the fuck up.

I'm not particularly tactful, though...

Sheeply · 08/06/2019 09:45

Was he watching the TOTP special? I got a bit carried away to Bomb the Bass and Yas, aparently.

ThePants999 · 08/06/2019 11:05

Ah yes, a "typo" you made three times Wink

Dippypippy1980 · 08/06/2019 13:11

I apologise profusely pants. It was a typo - for some reason when I type on a phone I reverse letters. Fingers fly too fast. Most auto correct that didn’t.

I will be more careful in future.

Seriously, it’s a parenting forum not an English test. You really don’t need to apologize for typos.

Walkamileinmyshoesbeforeujudge · 08/06/2019 13:29

Post him a list of requests..

Freyasmum1 · 08/06/2019 13:38

I thought this was about somebody doing really aggressive BSL so very disappointed

Ear plugs?!

Dippypippy1980 · 08/06/2019 13:50

Ear plugs work for me late at night - but not for my little girl.

Also sometime can’t hear the tv over the wailing, shouting and singing (typed very slowly for the pedants).

OP posts:
fecketyfeck21 · 08/06/2019 13:57

you shouldn't have to use ear plugs in your own home because some idiot is screeching next door ! if he's that thick he might not realise how sound carries anyway.
