Mine are -

Starting to drive off, then putting your seat belt on whilst trying to control the car at the same time. Why? It can't save more than a second, looks awkward, and is dangerous!

Putting bananas into a little plastic bag before putting them in the trolley - the only reason I can see for the plastic bags is to keep loose veg together, or to keep edible parts clean, neither of which applies to bananas, so what's the point?

Taking shopping trollies back to the trolley park but not actually connecting them up with the ones already there - you've done about 95% of the effort, is it really that hard to make someone else's life a bit easier by putting it away properly?

( Yes, mine do seem to be mostly supermarket related but I suppose that's where I come across other people most of the time!)

Actually, I do have one non-supermarket one - people only using one half of a set of double doors when there is a queue of people all wanting to go through - they all line up patiently to go through the one door rather than just OPENING THE OTHER ONE!!

you're suppost to rinse all the dishwasher stuff anyway before using the dishwasher

do you mean rinse everything before putting in the dishwasher?
It's specifically advised not to on the instruction manual of my current one.

morallybankruptme · 09/06/2019 11:00

@MorondelaFrontera you can guess Grin

Gwenhwyfar · 09/06/2019 11:01

The containers thing - it's Ok at the end, better than wasting, but obviously not before everyone present has been up to the buffet.

notacooldad · 09/06/2019 11:02

Gwenhwyfar
Very unusual for someone to be without their mobile these days though.
Not going into the ins and outs but friend just made a dash for it. Our place was nearest.

Just glad we could help.

morallybankruptme · 09/06/2019 11:03

@MorondelaFrontera really? Maybe my dishwasher is old or something but I always rinse the dishes first.

pictish · 09/06/2019 11:07

“11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man [sic], I put away childish things.

So you can read...well done. You still haven’t explained why gaming is such a terrible thing to do. Where the harm or perversion is. What is the basis for your distaste other than the inaccurate assumption that the games are meant for children?
The games are not designed for children. Barbie dolls are. Why the comparison?

GameofPhones · 09/06/2019 11:12

Admire Boris Johnson.

JaneJeffer · 09/06/2019 11:13

Dp and his obsession with having butter and milk in the house
What's wrong with that?

MorondelaFrontera · 09/06/2019 11:13

morallybankruptme
fair point, you are consistent! Grin
I have a grip with people commenting on buggies when they take their own cars everywhere!

I vaguely remember that it has something to do with the sensors apparently, but it does advise to scrap the food but not rinse.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/06/2019 11:14

"I haven't a clue who you are or your circumstances . I simply left an answer to a question about what irks me."

I'm not offended and didn't take it as a personal insult, but I think it's fine for me to ask why you think something is so bad. Most people here have given a reason for the things they don't like.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/06/2019 11:16

"You still haven’t explained why gaming is such a terrible thing to do. "

I don't think it is and I never said so.

Settlersofcatan · 09/06/2019 11:16

People who march up to the ticket barrier at a tube or train station and only then seem to realise that they might need to get their ticket out of a wallet in a zipped pocket out of their backpack. This can only be achieved while blocking everyone else from using the ticket barrier and preferably while chatting to a travelling companion.

pictish · 09/06/2019 11:20

Oh sorry. Did you not post the original post? My mistake.

AnnaSteen · 09/06/2019 11:20

@morondelafrontana I am talking about a commuter train which is so full that people stand the whole way up the aisle. When someone comes barging past where do you suggest I move to so they don’t have to push past me - the luggage rack? If you get a train everyday and see that it fills up by the time you get to the station I would think anyone with half a brain who knows they need to get a connecting train or get off in a rush would stay by the door - not move to the end of the carriage or take a seat. It’s just rude. They are not the only person on the train you can’t sit down for the whole journey and get off first inconveniencing 50 people along the way.

MorondelaFrontera · 09/06/2019 11:25

AnnaSteen
on such a pack commuter train, if you stay at the door, you will block people from going IN the train. You will be in somebody's way either way at some point. You might as well get out of the way, sit down and get up near your station and squeeze to get out.

People get even more irate if they miss a train because no one moves down the carriage but stay stuck at the doors, and rightly so.

AnnaSteen · 09/06/2019 11:30

You might as well squeeze yourself past 50 people physically rubbing your body against them and knocking their bags and pushing them back into people sitting down...this is the preferred option? I get on two stops from the station and there are always people at the door but I’ve never had an issue getting on. So there is no excuse for not staying near the door.or if you must insist on a seat and making your connection just get an earlier train. It’s so frustrating every day to have to try squeeze yourself as small as possible so an overbearing person can have their seat and get off first.

MorondelaFrontera · 09/06/2019 11:33

I prefer to sit in the train, I am not sorry!
One stop is fine, but longer journey, if there's a free seat, I use it. I deal with leaving the train later.

BertieBotts · 09/06/2019 11:35

Haha, I am one of those who sits around in a cluttered house. I don't find clutter impedes my relaxation. Conversely, cleaning and tidying would DEFINITELY impede my relaxation. Not that confusing, is it?

And I tidy for visitors. I agree that in theory, if I kept the house the way I was happy with it at all times then I wouldn't need to but in reality I am too lazy and I would rather put up with looking around and thinking "God I need to clean in here" rather than actually get up and do it.

But also, I do def have different standards for visitors and myself. I can totally relax with my pants strewn on the floor but I wouldn't want visitors to see that, it would be embarrassing.

morallybankruptme · 09/06/2019 11:38

@JaneJeffer annoying to the point of obsessive

QuestionableMouse · 09/06/2019 11:44

I dashed off the train the other day. Not sure why but it had made me really travel sick and the on board loo was out of order.

If a small blonde woman with a bright blue bag and a green face shoved past you in Sunderland on Thur I apologise. 😂😂😂

I fill my fuel to £20 every time. I'm on a limited budget and depending on prices it can cost £70+ to fill the tank. I have have bad wrists and standing there for ages means I'll struggle to use my hands later.

Roussette · 09/06/2019 11:47

I never rinse plates to put in the dishwasher unless they are absolutely caked in leftover food. What's the point

I love the comment from a PP about having butter and milk in the house. Like that could be an annoyance?! Grin I like my cuppa with milk and my toast with butter so always have it

mydogisthebest · 09/06/2019 11:56

People (of all ages) taking endless selfies. Sick and tired of having to avoid people so engrossed in taking photos of themselves that they block the way for everyone else or just stop in the middle of a crowded pavement etc.

Also people who fill their facebook with endless selfies. Just why? Are people all really that vain? I have no pictures of myself whatsoever on facebook.

People who change their mind about buying something in a shop and then just dump it somewhere. Often when it is food it can be ruined i.e. a frozen item just dumped on an ordinary shelf.

Any item in any shop though just stop being so lazy and take it back to where you got it. I worked in a shop and at the end of each day had to go round with a trolley collecting all the items dumped in the wrong place and put them back in the correct place.

I moan at DH when he doesn't round up his fuel purchases. I do his accounts and hate all the receipts for x pounds and odd pennies

poopypants · 09/06/2019 12:14

Firstimpressionsofearth there is a straight forward reason for reversing into spaces. It's easier. It's much easier to reverse into a car space where room is limited than it is to drive straight in. The reason for this is that the back wheels are fixed in direction in relation to the car. ... In turn, this means the rear wheels don't follow the same path as the front wheels, they will cut the corner.

Google it. It's mechanics and physics. It is much easier to reverse in than going head in.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 09/06/2019 12:18

People who don't have their children's shoes properly fitted. The bones in children's feet are so delicate and don't fully harden until they are in their teens. Squashing them into poorly fitting shoes at a young age can cause real problems later on.
