To think that I could still get an interview

I've applied for a job that i really want and am well qualified for and have experience that they are looking for. I applied not last Wednesday but the Wednesday before (the last Wednesday in May) but I haven't heard anything. There's no closing date on the job ad though. Also there's no contact name for who's overseeing the process so I wouldn't be sure who to contact to chase up the application. It's a job ad on indeed though and it still says on the ad 'be one of the first 10 applicants' so I was just wondering if they are waiting for more applicants before shortlisting for interviews. I was just wanting to know if anyone thinks there's still hope that they might contact me even after a week and a half? Sorry if this doesn't make total sense- I'm just really nervous and would really like an interview! Thank you x

Yes you could. I applied for a job ages ago with a closing date early May and heard nothing. Fretted for a week and a half then wrote it off completely.
Suddenly yesterday got an email inviting me for interview. So yes, it depends how they’re managing the process. Horrible being the candidate though.

Depends. This happened with a local authority job I applied for - it was a month before I heard.

In the private sector this would’ve unusual I think but not unheard of.

@Merryoldgoat thank you for your reply! It’s public sector (nhs) in a gp practice

@Sunnysomer thank you for your reply! I’m hoping that’s what happens with me! I hope your interview goes well and that you get the job!

Entirely possible then! Smile

I guessed it was NHS. When ( hopefully) you get the job, it'll be at least 3 months till you get your start date Grin

I’ve just been recruiting
We usually set a closing date for applications then shortlist within a week or so
Letters then get sent out inviting for interview within a few days ( so 1-2 weeks depending on how busy we are)
It’s very competency based though and we are very strict over scoring and agonise over whether to score if people don’t quite demonstrate their skills
Sometimes I go over a form 3-4 times hoping to find a way to evidence the candidate has met the criteria especially if they’ve spent a lot of time on the application
We also score blind and have no idea of age, gender, where they live etc

@jacelancs thank you for your reply! It makes it so much easier if there’s a closing date- there isn’t one on the job I’ve applied for! It’s because of that that I’m not sure if I should’ve heard from them by now if I were to get an interview
