  • not kennels, but boarding at your house or a cat sitting business? Are there any common pitfalls?
How did you go about getting insurance? Is it enjoyable for you ?

Well you wouldn;t be able to make much money boarding them at your house...because you couldn't have many at a time.

Do you have space for cat “rooms”?

My friend has a cat care business, she started off as a cat sitter on the Tailster website so all the insurance etc was covered for her and it was a good way to start out and find new clients

I have a friend who does dog boarding. She does walking as well. She earns a fuckload of money, far more than you would expect.

Insurance is easy to get but there are new licensing laws that have caused a lot of businesses to close. You need to speak to your council. The licences are expensive too.

Thanks for the replies so far . I’d definitely rather deal with cats than dogs as I’m more used to them The tailster idea sounds good to start out with . Boarding wise I could probably only board one or two at a time

The catteries I use typically charge £10/day or £15/ day for 2 cats sharing a larger run. These catteries can usually board around 20 cats. If you can only board 2 cats at a time, is there enough economy of scale to make a profit? Is insurance, licensing etc reduced for fewer cars??
