What do you do when your DH is out for the evening?

I don't know why.

But nights when DH is out I always bring myself straight to bed.

Watch TV, drunk tea, and make sure I have a cat to keep me company.

I don't know why but I don't like sitting in the lounge by myself. Even like tonight when he was out early I'm in bed soon as DC asleep with the TV on.

I don't really do anything much differently than when he's here. 🤷‍♀️

Although the last few times he's had to travel for work I ended up reading/watching scary/ghost stories even though I'm the biggest scaredy cat and spent half the night in bed shitting myself at every creak the house makes cursing myself for being so easily spooked 🤦‍♀️😂

DH is out tomorrow night so I’ll watch something on tv he doesn’t like and enjoy the peace and quiet. That’s about it.

greenlynx · 06/06/2019 22:59

The same as usual - I’m busy with DD and then getting ready for the next day.
I might buy something special for dinner for me and DD but that’s it. I never drink when he’s not at home - caring responsibilities.

itwaseverthus · 06/06/2019 23:06

Same as Moneybegreen Dh hates takeaway Chinese so I order a lot of it, lay the length of the sofa in PJs and watch all the stuff he pretends to like but doesn't really. Maybe have a little glass of wine or three and just generally enjoy the peace. Love dh to bits and yet love having the house to myself (as the only adult I mean).

Sit in my pants and watch ridiculous TV DP would never watch whilst stuffing my face full of ice cream, Kevin from Home Alone style.

aweedropofsancerre · 06/06/2019 23:13

Ooh I love it...
I have full control of the TV, I can sit where he likes to sit to watch the said TV, Kids are all settled and in bed early as I dont have to wait to see if he will help, i may treat myself to a take away or if its a friday get the girls round for dinner and drinks... the last girls night ended at 4 and my OH had come home and went straight to bed Grin

I love my alone time. Wink

Flowerrose · 06/06/2019 23:16

Watch tv without having to hear his comments and questions

Ragwort · 06/06/2019 23:24

I love evenings in to myself Grin, when DH & I first met he travelled a lot overseas and I was very used to spending 2-3 weeks on my own (we didn’t have DC for the first 12 years of marriage). Now he still travels for business and has the occasional night or two away but not nearly so much. I tend to be out in the evenings much more than DH with my hobbies, volunteering, committees etc.

I much prefer to watch tv alone, we don’t really have the same taste so have to compromise if we watch together, I have a favourite expression ‘I just want to sit alone in my own living room Grin. I cook exactly what I want to eat and have a couple of glasses of wine ... perfect evening, assuming I have kicked teenage DS out of the room. I am very happy in my own company.

We are fairly close to retirement, in some ways I am dreading it, my DM is honest enough to tell me it’s hard work (& my parents have had 30 years of retirement together Grin).

Party time!!!! In as much as will watch trashy TV, listen to my music and choose a takeaway that I like. It usually ends up with me falling asleep on the same sofa but I love it!

freshasthebrightbluesky · 06/06/2019 23:54

Sew
Colour in
Take, edit or re-edit photos
Watch stuff I've recorded that he doesn't like
Eat pizza
Go to bed and fall asleep like a starfish in the middle

ClosedTheBlueEyes · 07/06/2019 00:02

If he ever goes out I'll let you know Grin

flyingspaghettimonster · 07/06/2019 00:09

I either go drink on my porch with my neighbours or go watch movies or shows with my oldest kid. Or read a book in the bath with a glass of milk. Same stuff I would do if he were here mostly

BlackPrism · 07/06/2019 00:11

Read, eat crap, drink wine and watch shows he isn't into

Moneybegreen · 07/06/2019 17:37

Chinese is ordered.

Makeup off and skanky pj's on.

S21 of America's Top Model ready.

I feel smug eating tons of Chinese while watching skinny models. Fuck them, I bet they haven't got Chinese for dinner.

francienolan · 07/06/2019 18:17

I have a takeaway and wine, and I watch something he isn't interested in on Netflix or Sky Cinema. It's pretty rare he isn't home in the evenings but I have a few evenings to myself coming up and I'm already lining up movie musicals Grin
