Your DCs started walking?

Seemed like forever!

#1 cruised at 9 months and walked at 14 months.
#2 cruised at 7 months and walked at 15 months.

My cousins DS was born at the same time as #2 and he never cruised, just got up and walked at 8 months!

7 long months from cruising till he started walking.

Amanduh · 05/06/2019 20:58

Crawled at 6 months, cruised at 7 months, first wobbly steps at 8 months, confidently walking/getting self up and down and properly mobile at 9 months. About three weeks of cruising before he started to walk independently!

A long time! Started cursing at 10/11 months but didn’t walk until 21 months but this isn’t the norm. DD has hypermonility (not that we knew that at the time) so it affected her ability to walk!

Jent13c · 05/06/2019 20:58

Pulled himself up/cruising just before 6 months
Didnt walk until 14 months.

Think it was definitely a confidence thing for him because he was walking without falling as soon as he took his first steps, like he didnt want to let go until he could do it perfectly.

I googled a lot about it as was worried he was a little late and there is some evidence it is related to how much they roll to get about the room. My son sat up very early and only rolled a couple of times as he wasnt happy lying down. He began crawling from a seated position so I wonder if he maybe didnt use the muscles rolling about which seem to be linked to walking.

The word cruising looks insane now I’ve read it so many times.

Dd held onto furniture from around 9/10 months but didn’t walk till 18 months! I had booked her in for an assessment appointment and she started walking like she’d done it all her life 2 days later. Typical!

Namechangerextraordinare101 · 05/06/2019 21:10

DS crawled at 6 months, cruising at 7 months but didn't walk unaided til 17 months!

DD on the other hand started crawling around 8 months, cruising 10 months and then walked at 12 months.

MatchSetPoint · 05/06/2019 21:25

First son, cruising 9months and walking 10months, second son Cruising about 7 months and walking 11 months.

Pinklittle · 05/06/2019 21:40

Cruising at 8 months, and walking at 14 months, my back hurts haha!

PavlovaFaith · 05/06/2019 21:58

YABU to put this in AIBU

I can't remember but I know they were both walking at 10 months because I had to buy real shoes for them. And it is very difficult to get real shoes at that age if your kids have tiny feet. (Small feet run in the family.) So, I'd hazard it could have been a couple of months.

Byebyefriend · 05/06/2019 22:34

Ds was cruising at 7 months crawled at 9.5 months and walked ran at 10 months and hasn't sat still since

Earslaps · 05/06/2019 23:01

DS1 crawled at 9 1/2 months, cruised at 10 months and took his first steps the day after his first birthday.

DS2 crawled at 6 1/2 months, cruised at 7 months and took his first steps... the day after his first birthday!

BertieBotts · 06/06/2019 07:05

YY to the late walkers doing it perfectly first time as well. DS1 is still reluctant to try things unless he knows he'll be good at them.

Thatsnotmyotter · 06/06/2019 08:17

DH didn’t walk until nearly 18 months and I walked at 9 months.

DS started cruising at 8 months and I wondered if he’d be closer to me than DH but it sounds like he could still take his time!

Started cruising at 9 months. Started walking by herself at 18 months. Never crawled. (Just couldn't be bothered, I think!)
