Neighbours never cut their grass.

When I say never, I mean never. It’s a jungle out there. They are busy working people, I understand it’s hard to keep on top. We aren’t keen gardeners ourselves but manage to cut the grass and keep it looking half presentable.

They don’t maintain their garden at all. It’s causing all sorts of plants and brambles to grow through the fence into our garden which we can trim to a certain extent but both my kids have scatched themselves and recently our dog had a nipple injury - large scratch/cut after coming in from the garden. Obviously we don’t know for sure it’s that but she often jumps up to the fence if she hears other dogs/people/cats nearby (not that she can see them 🤣) and it seems likely she injured herself that way.

My kids have also accidentally chucked balls over there but you can’t see them to find them so we’ve just left them in there for now 🤣

I feel like helping them out with it but it will be a large job and myself and Oh lack the time nor are we keen gardeners ourselves.

Would you be annoyed??

I said I don’t go around looking people’s gardens? I’m talking about back gardens, so how can I see them? But to be honest it’s not something I’m walking around noticing. It doesn’t bother me if the grass is a bit long is there are weeds outside someone’s house.

Maybe there’s more important things to
worry about and I understand we have no idea what the situation is.

madsweeny do they not just re-flower? The daisies and buttercups are back out the day after we mow (much to dp’s Annoyance Grin)

MadSweeney · 10/06/2019 18:37

Unsure to be honest Cornettoninja this is my first summer in this house so the garden is just a big, happy surprise at the moment.
Assume they will.

I’m actually quite excited for you madsweeny - hope some treasures appear over the next few weeks!

We all need to do our bit to save the bee population and many areas are adopting a “don’t mow let it grow approach” to support ecosystems. We have a half acre garden and don’t bother to cut it and enjoy all the random flowers and plant life coming up plus loads of bees butterflies and ladybirds coming. Plus an odd pheasant or 2.

The natural world is more beautiful than a cut lawn and watching a garden become mature and wild is a little satisfying :)

You find time to do your gardening because that's how you prioritise your time. Your prerogative.

Your ndns have other priorities, which are none of your business.

But that's irrelevant. It doesn't bother most people. And is not what this thread is about. I'm sure the op wouldn't give a flying fuck either if the grass was just a bit long or there were weeds outside.

When we moved into this place some areas had been left untended. Brambles were actuall through the garage roof. From the outside. So that's about twenty foot high at its highest. Do you have any concept of how high it can get and how damaging?

She's not talking about some weeds and a bit of long grass.
