Just been watching this on BBC.
Very enjoyable and extremely touching.
Just wondered if anyone else thought Prince Charles needed his jacket sorting out. It looked like the weight of his medals was dragging it down.
And who saw one of the dignitaries picking his nose..

The Prince could be seen wearing several medals across his chest, as did the veterans who attended the event today. The Prince of Wales wears no medals for valour in combat as he has not fought. Instead, he wears the appropriate regalia, given his service, ranks in the Navy and Air Force, and appropriate titles

The Veterans deserve to be wearing medal's, honestly PC and the rest of his sibling's especially Prince Edward don't, be a patron of a regiment entitles you to a medal, only in this country.

@happyhillock
If you bother to google, you will see that Prince Charles got his medals for serving (not being a Patron) in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force (in high ranking posts) and not for valour. Other decorations he wears are to do with Royal Orders that he is a member of. I think you are also forgetting that one of his siblings, Prince Andrew, was in action in The Falklands war so perhaps you would consider he might also be entitled to wear at least one medal on that account (if he does).

I watched it and thought it was lovely. Was actually sitting in a hospital waiting room at the time and it was quite touching that all sorts of people in a wide variety of ages seemed to be transfixed by it all.

happyhillock · 06/06/2019 15:43

Ive already said Prince Andrew deserves his medal's as he saw duty in the Falklands, Prince Edward couldn't handle his royal marine training so he left, why is he wearing a couple of medal's, he's none nothing to deserve these honours.

Raising a glass today to MNers' family and their friends who were involved in the D-Day landings.Wine

I've done a few bits of family history for MNers over the years, and know of several killed – some in air corps and navy.

Bloke23 · 06/06/2019 18:19

@happyhillock they should of had medals for NI. My old man did 22 years, he got medals for every conflict the army has been in since 85, he has 9 in total

Cheers and thank you Surely.
