My 5 week old baby is currently sleeping. His last feed was at half 9 where he had a full 5oz of milk.

He appears to be in a very deep sleep and looks so content so I need to ask the question..

Should I wake him for a feed before I go to sleep or should I leave him to wake himself?

I'm a first time mum so not sure what to do! Tia

Ow he is sooo cute
It makes it bareable, those night feeds
I hope you all have a cosy sleep after this xxx

I'm awake too but my babies are 15 and 20 years old now so not the cause of my wakefulness! Enjoy him when he's young cause before you know it he'll be flying the nest!!

Dream feeding is a good option here. Many babies will feed without waking fully, it gives you some extra rest as hopefully they will sleep a further few hours and gives them a feed without having to be disturbed.

I used to let mine sleep until they woke up.
A sleeping baby is a contented baby ( and a happy mum )

Dream feeds are the best.

He's gorgeous!
I think the advice can vary depending on whether he was pre term or not - I assume he wasn't.

StealthPolarBear · 05/06/2019 05:11

Not that it matters since he clearly read this thread and decided he was due a feed :o

Enjoy it. My 2nd did this and slept from 8 to about 5:30 when she was 4 and a half weeks old. She was gaining weight so I left her to it (well I fell asleep and woke up startled when I realised she hadn't fed for so long). Enjoy!

He is gorgeous. If he's doing 3 hours in the day that's great as hell natural go longer at night so I'd leave him at night x
