just because you disagree with them!

Watching the news and just seen a shocking clip of an elderly trump supporter being bulldozed by a group of anti-trump demonstrators. Rewinding it one middle aged looking guy has his hand on the chap's throat and does not let go of him until he is lying on the ground. Really shocking to watch, he could have been so badly hurt.

WTF is wrong with people? The stupidity is overwhelming, one of them even tried to justify the violence to the guy afterwards on camera!!! Don't they know they have totally undermined any valid points of view by treating another person that violently?

I despair of if. You don't win an argument about anything by acting outside the law. These normally law abiding citizens need to accept that people who disagree with them are people too. I have a very respectable, professional friend who loves and encourages the milkshake thing, despite usually being a pacifist. A criminal record would mean they were no longer able to work in their field. I can't fathom it.

Poloshot · 04/06/2019 22:14

Absolutely. Vermin behaviour from the tolerant left.

FedUpMum40 · 04/06/2019 22:15

Discusting

FedUpMum40 · 04/06/2019 22:36

I hope they are caught and prosecuted, same as anyone else who attacked anyone else today, it's like kids in a school playground

ScottishDoll · 04/06/2019 22:54

Agreed.

It is so damaging to democracy and just dense.

I loathe Trump, if I could have been there protesting I would have but I would not stand for violence to anyone disagreeing.

I feel like the premise of debate is being replaced by straight up thuggery. A pro trump plant in the demo couldn't do a better job of discrediting freedom of speech.

It is awful. So counter productive.

Same with throwing food products at people. Not on, it is a dreadful practice.

Isth · 04/06/2019 23:04

It’s absolutely vile. I despair sometimes.

Nearlythere1 · 04/06/2019 23:22

I agree, the left are really discrediting themselves with this behaviour - not just the small minority who are doing it, but more importantly the great majority who seem to think it's funny and acceptable just because they don't agree with their political opinion.

Lockheart · 04/06/2019 23:26

That's shocking - it doesn't seem to be reported on any platforms I've seen. Do you have a link?

myDHhasahobbyanditsnotcycling · 04/06/2019 23:32

It's especially stupid when it concerns another country where no of them has any say!

Make your opinion known by all means, there are unacceptable things going on everywhere and we shouldn't be silent about it, but fighting when said country care for neither of your side? It's pathetic.

ScottishDoll · 05/06/2019 00:52

You can see it on iplayer, on this eve's edition of The Nine at around 7 and a half minutes in.

fancynancyclancy · 05/06/2019 00:58

Ugh it’s all so divisive these days & violence on both sides more prevalent & much more acceptable.

ScottishDoll · 05/06/2019 00:59

How not to debate.

Sickening I despise trump but attacking is someone is disgusting although skeptical conspiracy theory I’d of me wonders if it’s a plant a known tactic that has been used before at protests but then again that could be crazy talk.

PregnantSea · 05/06/2019 01:41

Go and have a look at the thread about someone throwing a milkshake on Nigel Farage. The general consensus was that because they didn't agree with his politics he wasn't human, and therefore wasn't entitled to any human rights. I would imagine people would think much the same thing about this situation.

That seems to be the way that a lot of people think these days.

Nearlythere1 · 05/06/2019 01:46

100% agree @pregnantsea

ScottishDoll · 05/06/2019 01:51

In that news report there was also some milkshake throwing at a mock trump so yes I think you are right, violence is becoming the answer.

Village stocks mock ups and rotten eggs was always a bit of lampooning in the past, ridiculing serious politics. Also not ideal but meant as a way of mocking without hurting physically. This milkshake culture is a bit more violent and demented seeming.

I did wonder about a plant tactic but it looked madly out of control and I really think it looked like that guy was in danger of being badly hurt there. Even if he was being completely out of order that was a totally inappropriate response.

Geez, can we denounce violence without goading those on the other side of the political spectrum? There's obviously some pretty high profile examples of violence by Trump supporters after all.

Whatareyoutalkingabout · 05/06/2019 04:10

I mean in the grand scheme of things, compared to the violence that happens at protests in other countries, this new fad for throwing milkshakes is hardly the end of the world. Yes I'm sure he was a bit cold and wet for a while but I find it THAT hard to get worked up about 🤷 (leaving now before I get in trouble Grin)

Holdthedamndoor · 05/06/2019 05:04

Its funny, because on the thread talling about throwing food at politicians, so many people insisting it wouldnt escalate. It was fine because NF is a dick, it wouldn't be common place.

Some people fail to see the bigger picture, they cant see past their own hatred of certain politicians. I get the hatred. Just not the fact that people let cloud their judgment.
