Lots of voxpops on TV say that leavers voted that way because of what was on the bus so now that The Donald has admitted that the NHS will be part of any trade deal and we have the prospect of insurance based health care to look forward to, can I ask if you would now still vote the same way?

The NHS is devolved in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 is it devolved in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿? If so does that mean it’s can’t be screwed by Westminster under a trade deal?

Within our lifetime China is predicted to have a larger GDP than US and EU combined.

If we find ourselves in a weak position negotiating with the US, with whom we enjoy 'special relationship', how are we going to fare trying to negotiate with China in the near future.

We are moving out of a successful trading block at a time when most countries are trying to join into successful blocks.

So we can clearly see where Farage spent some of the unexplained £400k ‘donation’ given to him by that insurance bloke who stands to make a killing from health insurance. It’s to pay for professional social media commentary from the likes of people like Unhomme. Seems to be working overtime to downplay Trumps NHS comments.

No - there was a power grab on devolved rights a while back. Westminster has the ultimate say. All the NHS will be up for sale.

Even before the referendum, a majority of Leavers believed Brexit would be 'worth it' even if it meant damaging the economy.

We're going to be one nation alone and obviously will not have the negotiating clout that we enjoyed as part of the EU. I don't think many Leavers believe, in their heart of hearts, that day to day life will be better - it's an ideological vote.

And I confess that there are times I'd put my own ideological preferences above the bottom-line national interest. That what a lot of Leavers are doing now.

PinkiOcelot · 04/06/2019 21:05

“Selling off” the NHS to Trump wasn’t in any of the literature I read before the referendum, so I don’t think any leavers actually voted for that. An extra so many thousands per week was what I read.

Dewdew · 04/06/2019 21:12

But Farage has been calling for privatization and his Brexit Party got the most votes in the EU elections.

Initially it was 'give more to the NHS', now its 'Scrap the NHS'. You'd also be hard pressed to find a Leave voter who particularly cares about the lies on the Brexit bus. I think it's all indicative that the future of the NHS doesn't really factor in for many Leave voters.

Yep, the penny will drop when they receive their bill for health care. It’ll probably been somebody else’s fault.

Dewdew · 04/06/2019 21:33

And the 'Brexit and Scrap the NHS Party' is now topping GE polls. The days of the NHS being a sacred cow amongst a massive majority of the electorate are over, sadly.

pikapikachu · 04/06/2019 21:38

Of course Trump wants the NHS to source it's medicines from US companies. It's easier to force foreign medicine prices to rise than domestic (US) medicine prices to fall . Next time people in the US complain how insanely expensive insulin is, he'll be able to say that the NHS pay a similar amount.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 04/06/2019 21:38

Most of those Farage quotes werent widely publicised by the press hence led by donkeys doing their campaign. Leavers voted for prosperity not to put their hands in Their pockets for private health care insurance

Dewdew · 04/06/2019 22:40

Well my guess is that we won't see a single Leaver in this thread changing their mind over the issue, nor do I think it would cause a swing in polling even with substantial media coverage.
