Seen a post shared on Facebook.

An old man who was walking his dog was given a black eye from a park user.

The park apparently is for dog walkers, no bikes allowed.
The dog chased a young man on a bike then bit him.

Que man’s dad verbally abusing the older man and giving him a black eye.

Lots of disgusted comments, lots of talk of bikes not being allowed.

Now, obviously it’s not right to go round punching people but surely I am not the only one who thinks you don’t allow dogs to chase and bite cyclists?!

How fucking terrifying and we don’t know how bad the bite was either.

Yet I don’t see a single comment mentioning this...

I’m not surprised he got decked.
It’s not right obviously, but is anyone actually surprised?!

P.S. I am a dog owner myself!

I think both parties are to blame. Sometimes people just jump on the bandwagon of blame without considering the facts.

Manclife1 · 03/06/2019 21:10

2 wrongs don’t make a right.

S1naidSucks · 03/06/2019 21:11

The bike want supposed to be there, so it’s possible the owner wouldn’t have had time to react. The dog shouldn’t have bit, but this is a dog park, not a bike park. The cyclist was a wanker, as was his dad and I’m on the side of the dog owner with this one. There are so few places that you can let dogs off lead, but the fucking cyclist still felt he had a right to be there. Why the duck did he take a bike in a NON cyclist area?

S1naidSucks · 03/06/2019 21:11

Want = wasn’t

BlueMerchant · 03/06/2019 21:13

The cyclist shouldn't have been in the park.
The park is for dog walkers.
Sure the guy didn't 'allow' his dog to chase the bike and no matter how good the recall dogs can be unpredictable especially if this is where the dog is usually walked and the cycle took it by suprise.
I feel for the man and his dog despite being wary of dogs myself.

GruciusMalfoy · 03/06/2019 21:19

So there was a person on a bike, who shouldn't have been there, and he has the kind of dad who punches people. I wouldnt necessarily trust their side of the story. The bike shouldn't have been there, I doubt the dog was "allowed" to chase, more likely the owner was taken unaware by the presence of the person on bike, and I wonder if it actually was a bite or a graze from an excitable dog.

Too little info to make any proper reply, I'd take it all with a pinch of salt.

Whatareyoutalkingabout · 04/06/2019 16:57

No the old man is NOT just as bad. He is the victim of a crime. The park is for dog walkers.

Gamble66 · 04/06/2019 17:00

On what planet is a dog owner walking a dog in a dog park wrong ?

Lemoneeza · 04/06/2019 17:06

dogs should be kept on a lead at all times if the owner can't recall them. I'm so sick of dogs bounding up at me and or my toddler.

Picklypickles · 04/06/2019 17:07

Not advocating the violence but the cyclist was completely in the wrong. I specifically take my children to parks that bikes aren't allowed in so that they wont get mowed down by some self absorbed lycra twat. I don't take them for a nice walk down a cycle path and get in the cyclists way. If I had a dog I would do the same. Can't we have anywhere that isn't overrun by cyclists these days?

Surfingtheweb · 04/06/2019 17:11

The old man didn't bite the boy, you cannot go round punching people because their dog who is an unpredictable animal (even when well trained) does something it shouldn't?

SoupDragon · 04/06/2019 17:24

No, the dog owner wasn't "just as wrong". He's in a park whe bikes aren't allowed and his dog is "surprised" by a bike. You have no idea how quickly it happened or what the man did to try to get the dog back or even if it was "just" a small nip rather than a massive chunk torn out of his leg but somehow that warrents being assaulted?

Pinkvoid · 04/06/2019 17:36

Bike shouldn’t have been there, the park is for dog users so I’m imagining people use it to let their dogs roam freely. Bike rider shouldn’t have flouted the rules. Obviously no excuse for assault, ever.

TurboTeddy · 04/06/2019 17:46

I'm in agreement with the majority of other posters. In areas where there is any traffic on wheels I have my dog close by on a short lead because he could be spooked if surprised. In a park designated for dogs I wouldn't have felt the need for such a precaution. I'd have put him on the lead if I'd seen a bike but as they're silent if it approached from behind I wouldn't necessarily have time to take action.
I doubt the owner "let" the dog bite particularly as this can result in the dog bring put to sleep. So now the owner has been assaulted and might risk losing their dog because a cyclist didn't think the rules applied to them.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/06/2019 18:08

And supposing this was your father or grandfather. Would be basically saying "He deserved it".

The kids dad is nothing other than cunting bullying twat. I hope he faces the full force of the law. I wonder he'd have been so handy with his fists.
If it had been a 6ft tall 5ft wide rugby player type aspose to old man.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/06/2019 18:10

Oh and he's a young man and his daddy's still fighting for him.
Good God he's going to have a hard time in the harsh real world.

puppy23 · 04/06/2019 19:26

I don't think the old man is innocent, his dog shouldn't be chasing or biting anybody - what would people be saying if it was a child who was bitten?!

That said, the Dad of course shouldn't have punched the man as that wasn't going to solve anything.

Another dog owner & lover myself for what its worth
