To be seriously considering selling my Victorian house (which needs a lot of maintenance) for a brand new Barrett home? Blush

We moved from a period house to a new build 8 years ago. We moved in the January when we'd had weeks of snow and my first memories of living in the new house was how warm and draught-free it was, the first night here I slept in a cami top and pyjama bottoms whereas in our old house it was pyjama bottoms, socks, long sleeved top and a hoodie or cardigan even with the heating on.

With our old house there was always something that needed fixing, dust would settle within minutes of cleaning and it was freezing cold in Winter. The roof needed replacing so that was a constant worry and would've been another big expense.

It helps that the new build we bought looks like my dream period house, a three storey semi with a stone surround bay window and sash style windows on the upper floors. Despite being a semi and new builds having a reputation for having thin walls, we hardly hear anything of our neighbours. We've had no problems with the house whatsoever.

@MadisonAvenue

Is it a semi?

If you wanted a detached house but a semi had all the other things you craved would you comprise?
