To cry at the thought of going to work?

Long story short - signed off with depression and anxiety, care back with fit note, reduced hours etc

Immediate manager fantastic. Other manager has driven me to the point where I’m sat in tears on a Sunday night at the thought of being in that office. Like I feel my anxiety is starting to become a panic attack

Sounds like you aren't ready to go back to work. Can you extend?

Also, could the job be the cause of your anxiety?

ooooohbetty · 02/06/2019 18:22

I'm the same. Currently on sick with acute anxiety due to work stress. Everything else is fine but I cry whenever I think of work. My manager is really good though. Currently trying Valium to see if it calms me down.

Diamondeye · 02/06/2019 19:07

I was ok to go back but because my manager has been away the other one will just not lay off me.

Shouting me out in front of the department
Making me out to be a liar when I say what’s been discussed and agreed on by my own manager
Having a meeting this week to discuss my work

Even just writing this makes me feel anxious

Can you take your union rep to the meeting with you ?

Diamondeye · 02/06/2019 19:33

I don’t think I have one, I’m not part of a union

I had a meeting with occ health this week which was useful. Have you got anything like that where you work?

GertrudeCB · 02/06/2019 19:52

Go back to your doctor and tell them what's going on.

Dljlr · 02/06/2019 19:53

Life's too short, call in sick. You can self certify for 7 days. Will your manager be back by then?

ooooohbetty · 02/06/2019 20:43

Sorry OP. I misread and thought you were still off. I agree with going back to GP and staying off again.

Do you have depression to the extent that it could be classed as a disability - i.e. if you weren't on any medication, would your struggle with day-to-day activities + it is likely to last at least a year? If so, they could be guilty of discrimination. If not, read the advice from ACAS on workplace bullying: "Under the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, employers are obliged to undertake a risk assessment for health hazards at work – including stress – and to take action to control that risk."
