Putting on makeup with a sponge

Foundation is apparently supposed to be applied with a sponge or foundation brush.
Mua was aghast that anyone would use their fingers, as it would spread germs over your face.
Doesn't everyone use fingers for foundation and sun cream etc? If you have washed hands I cant see why foundation is special (except that it takes up way more with a sponge because 3/4 of it soaks in....)?

My foundation sits much better with a damp sponge. If I used my fingers it would just smear it wouldn't go into the skin

Just me who uses a trowel then Grin

I spoke to a MUA and she told me by putting foundation on with your fingers change the colour.

Some foundations do change colour by oxidisation anyway, whether you use fingers of a brush.

How would using your fingers oxidise a foundation?

I use a MACHINE. It's fab. Does all the work for you. Plus I clean it after every use as I have one of them magical spinning cleaning machines which cleans and dries in about 15 seconds.
With my fingers it's too blotchy and streaky and worry I'll wipe off the primer while doing so.

Beauty Blender for me too. I find it helps everything look a bit more polished and it actually stays in place. Doesn't waste a lot of the product, i blot it all over my face with hands first then blend with the sponge. Only a little soaks up but yo get better coverage so it's worth it imo.
