Cramps 36 weeks

Hi all!
Yes Iabu posting here but I'm quite anxious after a couple of losses and never having got this far!

I'm 36 weeks pregnant, had what I'd probably say is normal to maybe slightly less movement today. But I keep getting period cramp like feelings. Not like my Braxton Hicks at all. I'm just uncomfortable and feeling pressure if that makes sense. Has or did anyone have this?

Tia!

Reduced movements is enough rwason to get checked. It's a myth movements reduce before labour

nicefloralrug · 31/05/2019 23:08

Tbh I'm not sure it has reduced. I know that sounds silly but baby has always been a bit of a pest and has no real pattern 🤦🏻‍♀️

If you think it has reduced, which you implied in the OP get checked

mynameisMrG · 31/05/2019 23:10

Can you record them somehow to see if there is a pattern? When in doubt, call your labour ward 😊

nicefloralrug · 31/05/2019 23:13

@nauseous5000 yes I guess I just don't want to waste their time when im not sure.

@mynameisMrG I can't see any pattern to them it seems random atm or like a dull ache rather than contractions.

I think I'll give the unit a ring even to just put my mind at rest,

You were worried enough to write a post on here, so get checked over. I promise the midwives will not feel you are wasting their time.

nicefloralrug · 31/05/2019 23:20

@Loubylou79 that is true thank you

It's really best to get yourself and your baby checked out. There is no such thing as wasting time at this stage. Period type pains or a feeling of a dragging pain can be the start of early labour or it can be just a totally normal 4 weeks to go type of stretching pain your body is experiencing. There is no way of knowing without getting checked out. The chances of it being something to worry about is very very slim but settling your mind and reassuring yourself that all is well is absolutley the right thing to do. Good luck, you're nearly there. xxx

Period cramps is exactly how I would describe the beginning of my labour. Maybe that's what it is, but if you're unsure just phone the midwife
They would rather see 100 women who are mistaken and have no problem, than have 1 person not ring when it is actually something serious.

WheresAllTheGoodInTheWorld · 31/05/2019 23:22

I went in many times as I believed I had reduced movements. Like your baby there was no set pattern. I did the usual tricks. Cold drink etc. Then call.
They never gave thev Impression I was wasting time.. I felt at ease.
And without scaring you. I ended up getting induced due to reduced movement.. Only a few days early but that few days could of made a difference had I not of called up. Good luck

mynameisMrG · 01/06/2019 10:37

How you doing op?

nicefloralrug · 01/06/2019 23:42

Hi! Thanks for thinking about me @mynameisMrG :-) I went for a check up last night and all is well :-) cervix is soft apparently so midwife says cramps are just my body getting ready :-) such a relief!

I’m glad it was good news. But to put your mind at rest my DC2 was born at 35 weeks. She only went to NICU for a blood transfusion for an existing condition, and was only in there 12 hours. So even if yours decides on an early entry it will probably be fine Flowers good luck!

nicefloralrug · 02/06/2019 10:44

I hope so :-) thank you for sharing your story. I think I'm just over anxious anyway because of losing a couple of pregnancies I am now almost in disbelief that baby is nearly here!

Aw that’s good news. Always good to check than be worrying at home

Sixgeese · 02/06/2019 13:34

I had one born at 35 weeks and two at 37 weeks. They stayed with me the whole time on the ward. In fact the one at 35 weeks was discharged before I was!

agnurse · 02/06/2019 13:40

Doing awesome!

At 36 weeks baby would be classed as "late preterm" and might not even need time in the NICU at all. Maybe just a little extra monitoring. Most of the babies I have seen born at 36 weeks did just fine.

37-38 weeks is considered to be already term. You're almost there! Congrats on the little one!
