People that say a month is 4 weeks?

I've seen this twice over the past month on mums groups and it's such a petty hate of mine but it irritates me!!!

Two mums have put on a photo with the caption 'one month old today!!!' when they're not. I've seen someone put it on today saying 'one month old' when her baby was born 3/5 and it's been 28 days (4 weeks), but a month hasn't passed!!! When your baby is '12 months' (a year), it'll still have another month to go until it's birthday?!?!?

Am I really petty that this bothers me so much? 😂😂😂😂

The soulution to the 13 months of 4 weeks plus an extra day is to have the 13 months and then have New Years Day as a day with no month and on leap years you get two. I think we are too far gone to change to this system now as it would mess up pretty much every computer system.

Also don't get me started on the names of the months being out of order it's my favourite rant topic.

"Also don't get me started on the names of the months being out of order it's my favourite rant topic."

Bloody Romans.

The month names are in order if you assume that January and February were added after the other ten, or if the year used to start in March. The crop year starts in March and I think that's why the financial year runs April - March.

Here’s the answer!

Well looner comes from lunatic and lunatic comes from luna. So looner's not too far out!

These are your culprits.

If anybody does insist that there are 13 months in the year, though (as per PP's dim friend/acquaintance), just feign stupidity and ask them to go through, slowly, naming them all for you. They'll get most of the way, but.... Grin

@Belenus June and July were added in not January And February- this was because a 10 month year didn't work

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 03/06/2019 07:09

This makes me irrationally angry. My friend was proudly posting that she was “4 months pregnant - only 5 months to go!” when she reached 16 weeks.

I should probably find something else to get worked up about.

Cuppa12345 · 03/06/2019 07:19

Looner! Hahahahahaha

I had this discussion with a nurse at my GP surgery because she couldn’t work out why I was coming in for my annual contraceptive pill check nearly 6 weeks earlier than her computer told her I ought to. No amount of ‘12 times 28 days isn’t the same as a calendar year’ made a difference - she clearly thought I was taking my pill wrong Hmm
