To be thoroughly peed off with Clarkes?

Went today to get dd's new shoes for school. They had hardly any sizes of the "normal" shoes but every size in these awful "daisy" shoes with the doll in the heel. Ended up paying an extra £5 for the doll the size of my thumb . Woman in the shop then proceeded to take dd around the shop showing her the trainers/slippers/wellies that she could get in order to collect all the other dolls (not a chance). It serves no purpose to the shoe, only a marketing ploy forcing already stressed parents to part with their money. Plus can you imagine what next term will be like, with all these dolls (and cars for the boys) being lost, fought over etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a letter home shortly after the beginning of term asking the children not to bring them in.

Just checked out that link - are they for real No WAY in this house......(I only ever buy Clarks in the sales.....)

I loathe our Clarkes, the witches in there are the most child unfriendly people, I've ever encountered in my life.

i'm not very impressed with clarks, dd has had bad blisters from a pair of 'fitted' shoes, and we had the same thing happen. just popped in to see what was on the sale rack and an assistant started showing dd the shoes with the doll in. now all dd says is she wants those shoes for school.

Have found John Lewis to be good for shoes, good range of different brands so they aren't pushing one onto you.

Have been there several times and come out with DS not needing a new size. Have been measured too big at Clarks several times!

Doodles are part of the Clarks range,so available wherever they are (Clarks, John Lewis, etc). Cotton canvas T - bar or strap shoes for girls, laces or velcro for boys , colourful with rubbery soles from about £12 up. Machine washable too ! They only sell a good range frm March until about now though so some will be in the sale. Startite do a version too.

sweeties, DS has been in Doodles all through the "summer". They are supposed to be machine washable but not sure what that does to the shape.

They do one or two styles in an H fitting and I have found that you need to go slightly bigger in size for Doodles. They're good for playing in the mud, half the price of normal shoes.
