AIBU Nigel Farage and his regular, daily, radio programme

There he is, every night and Sunday too. Seems a little unfair that he has a regular self promotion slot and his opponents do not. Surely a leader of a political party should not be doing this?

Agree 100%!!

In all fairness he wasn’t the leader of a political party when he was given the job but as soon as he threw his hat back in the ring he should’ve been let go. At least ethically - I don’t really know the legalities of political leaders in the media.

pigsDOfly · 29/05/2019 18:29

Does seem a bit odd.

Have no idea what the rules are but BBC cancelled 'Have I got news for you' just before the EU elections because he was on it. So surely the same should apply to a radio programme.

ScreamScreamIceCream · 29/05/2019 18:34

He was off air during the European elections and any elections where he stands as a candidate.

Other politicians like Jacob Rees-Mogg where on air during the run up.

ginghambox · 29/05/2019 18:35

No they didn't it was cancelled because Heidi Allen was on.

HollowTalk · 29/05/2019 18:35

I agree - he shouldn't have that opportunity. No politician should.

ScreamScreamIceCream · 29/05/2019 18:35

Forgot to say the rules are different for different kinds of media outlet. The BBC has it the toughest while newspapers like The Guardian have it the easiest.

HollowTalk · 29/05/2019 18:37

So he's on every evening? He's still an MEP - when is he over in Europe, then?

Remember after the referendum when the other European MEPs were looking at him with complete disgust?

longwayoff · 29/05/2019 18:48

Yes he is hollow, 6 days a week which is a LOT. At least he hasn't got his own tv channel. Yet . (thanks for the warning Russell Davis).

Lunaballoon · 29/05/2019 18:54

when is he over in Europe, then?

When he collects his €100,000 plus salary and expenses as an MEP? 🧐

PortiaCastis · 29/05/2019 18:58

He was standing by that bloody bus along with Boris so why isn't he also up in the dock, he must have some serious dirt on someone as he's teflon and smirks his way onto everything.

TeenTimesTwo · 29/05/2019 18:58

Did you watch Years and Years yesterday?

They had the strong viewed leader of a political party on her own TV channel all day during an election (when broadcasting political stuff is meant to be off limits)...

HollowTalk · 29/05/2019 19:02

I agree that Nigel Farage should be up in court with Boris - as should Michael Gove. Of course F & G will want to put all the blame on BJ.

IsabellaLinton · 29/05/2019 19:03

Why shouldn’t he take advantage of the opportunities available to him? I’m not seeing the problem.

longwayoff · 29/05/2019 19:17

And why shouldn't BJ lie if he feels like it Isabella? Just advancing any opportunity that arises? Well done Bozza.

PortiaCastis · 29/05/2019 19:34

Farage gets too many opportunities he's smirking mug is everywhere, as I said he's got dirt on someone and is let loose because of it.

pigsDOfly · 29/05/2019 19:39

ginghambox Ah okay, I was told it was because Farage was on it. I was misinformed in that case.

Finborough · 07/06/2019 13:38

Don'f forget that Clegg had his own LBC show for a short time, Cameron also hosted one or two shows on LBC. LBC has changed dramatically. It came on the airwaves in 1973 and for a long time had a good assortment of presenters. In fact, they had some really excellent, heavy-duty broadcasters, but too many of the current ones all sound the same ......same age, voices & accents very similar, backgrounds similar.

But I think in the last 12 yrs, since Global bought the radio station, that it has become very Left indeed. The only middle-of-the road bods are Ferrari and Dale - the rest are Marxist, or at least very close to that world view.

Nick Abbott who does Friday nights from 11pm to 1am is virtually frothing at the mouth with his sarcasm and cruel jibes. He may be amusing to some, but it is not good radio.

Finborough · 07/06/2019 13:50

Nigel Farage should be up in court with Boris

Wot? More like Khan, Corbyn and McDonnell. Have any of you heard what Corbyn's report "Land for the Many"? He's cleverly developed a narrative that wicked, wealthy landowners would be made to pay more, but it's not true. The report is aimed squarely at the middle classes who are going to be clobbered in Labour gets in. The very rich are already sorted a long time ago with offshore money and they somehow avoid paying Inheritsance Tax.

CTax will be replaced on regular updates of property values Singe occupants will no longer get the 25% discount.

Modest semis with largish gardens will be especially penalised.

longwayoff · 07/06/2019 14:00

Marxist?! For crying out loud Finborough, buy yourself a book. And try an lbc podcast from yesterday featuring the WW2 veterans recalling D Day.

EggWrap · 07/06/2019 14:09

If a politician wants to put out 'content', they can do it in a myriad of ways.

Most of them have nothing to say beyond the party script.
I for one, really like his show!

NameChangeNugget · 07/06/2019 14:13

I agree @Finborough

Used to love Robbie Vincent, Mike Allen, Dave Luddy & Steve Jones.

Can only listen to Iain Dale these days

recrudescence · 07/06/2019 14:16

the rest are Marxist

You need to find out what Marxist means.
