To ask what to wear in Canada in August?

As title,

Never been to Canada before but we’re going for 2 weeks in August and seeing most of the west coast.

I’m already wondering what the hell do I wear/ pack as I’m not sure on the weather at that time of year there.

I’m also aware it isn’t a beach holiday so bikinis and pretty summer evening dresses are probably going to be out Sad

Has anyone been to West Coast Canada in August.....would I look stupid going out to dinner in the evenings in a dress etc? Would I look scruffy during the day in jeans/ strappy top or shorts and strappy top? Am I likely to need a blummin’ waterproof Blush

PS
There are many lakes, so bring a bikini just in case....

I go to Banff a lot, year round. In August, it could be 30C, but typically, it's 19C to 23C. At night, it can get as low as 5C, usually around 8C or 9C. You will see Canadians in tshirts and shorts in this weather. I typically wear a short sleeved t-shirt type shirt, have a cardigan, and usually wear pants and comfortable shoes.

The big issue in Banff in summer is rain. It can rain a great deal. Same if you're on the west side of Vancouver Island. It is a little cooler if you're going to say, Tofino, but often drizzles.
