AIBU to think I can teach myself to play the piano with YouTube?

Especially at the age of 54 with no musical experience or ability or am I completely deluded?
I have always wanted to be able to play and I am now fortunate enough to have unlimited access to a piano, so has anyone ever done this and can you recommend a good YouTube tutorial?

Just bumping up this thread to ask how you got on? I am thinking of using the Flowkey app to learn a greater variety of pieces. I have a lovely teacher but he is only interested in teaching strictly classical. Anyone else use Flowkey?

Would also like to hear how you got on. Am going to start learning the keyboard, as my son is having lessons, and have always wanted to play.

I had a few lessons w a teacher, starting from scratch. Loved it but had to stop lessons (went from part time to full time so no free days).
I think an app might suit well, so will look at all these options (yousician keeps coming up).
Which would be the best if you DO want to learn to read music?

I could already read music and played a bit of piano/ had a few lessons in my early teens 25 years ago. Did up to grade 8 singing.

I’m using a digital piano with Bluetooth and Flowkey which is actually quite good but I don’t need the lessons so much. Just working my way through pieces and a few of the lessons to refresh my memory.

Currently learning the theme from The Piano and a week ago I could barely play the right hand part and now I can play the first half, both hands from memory. For me it’s all muscle memory. Play it enough times and you can do it!

Do learn to read music though - really important for playing the piano!
