I was involved in a minor accident on Friday I was hit head on by another car at low speed. I have my hand on the horn the crash forced my shoulder to slightly move out of the socket but to not fully dislocate, AC separation. The other driver left the accident so I rang the police it was all caught on cctv so there is evidence. Dh thinks we should claim I'm not so sure so wanted opinions of what you would do.

I would. AC joints can be tricky buggers. I had AC surgery last year and was off work for 6 weeks.

And I think anyone who leaves the scene of an accident is a shit and deserves to lose their no-claims discount!

I would claim. In the past I would have said not, but a month or so back I was in a car that had to emergency brake to avoid a crash. There was no actual incident and I thought little of it at the time, but my neck is messed up now. I can't look all the way to my shoulder on either side without a lot of pain and stiffness. It cramps every morning and stops me sleeping a fair bit. It is especially bad if I get in a car... and I have no idea when I will feel safe to drive again as it makes looking over my shoulder impossible. I haven't been to a doctor about it as I have no health insurance. If it uad happened in an actusl accident, claiming would have allowed me to seek medical treatment. You dont know how long this will affect your health.

Claim for sure.

You have no idea how much physio, etc you will need in years to come.

20 years ago I broke my back in an accident which wasn't my fault. I got 10k compensation which at 19yo seemed like a fortune. I'd say I've actually spent over 10k on physios, chiropractors, osteopaths, expensive mattresses and pillows, fancy bike because I struggle riding a normal one, gym membership because I need to do regular Pilates.

I'm not saying yours will be that bad at all, but physio can add up.

I wouldn’t say that’s a minor accident. Possible surgery and physio aren’t small things. The insurance should pay out for any loss of earnings due to the surgery and also for private physio I believe if you can’t get NHS

You lust notify your insurer.

if you are injured claim - depends whether you were injured.
The police ought to prosecute him for leaving the scene.

Just being in an accident may make your premiums go up, even though it's not your fault, and even if you get your excess back.

Your insurers might deal with an injury claim depending on your policy, otherwise try a no win no fee lawyer.

You must notify your insurer. (Typo)

Absolutely claim. I'm in the process of claiming after an accident I had over a year ago . Someone drove into the back of me and I've been suffering from really painful sciatica ever since. I'm in agony if I drive or sit down for more than 20 mins. I struggle sleeping and it's making me miserable.
I've had physio, cortisone and an epidural and nothing has worked. I'm still under the care of a neurosurgeon and waiting for the results of another MRI.

All because someone wasn't paying attention.
