Ds is 14 weeks. I have mastitis Sad
Got emergency apt with GP this morning, to which I had to drag all four DC.
Antibiotics and bed rest was prescribed.
Bed rest with four aged 5 and under at home for half term!!
The pain in the breast itself is bearable as long as I keep up the paracetamol/ibuprofen but it's the flu like feeling that is really getting me down. All of my skin hurts Sad
Have been trying the warm flannel and also tried to comb Hmm the blockage out but apparently to no avail as of yet.
Any words of wisdom as to how to get through this week ?!
My DH is about as sympathetic as a fly, and his suggestion is that it's just time to stop BF (ff did 1&2 bf dd3 and ds) because he's never really wanted me to as he can't be as hands on as he was with older girls.
I really don't want to stop, I bf dd3 until she was 1, she self weaned when I was pregnant again.
I already feel better for a little rant but any and all advice/ sympathy greatly received Grin

Cabbage leaves - seriously, this is one old wives' tale that really works. But you will stink.

Koskenkorva · 29/05/2019 01:59

Frequent feeding can help so try keep it up. Huge sympathies, mastitis is awful.

kooklet · 29/05/2019 02:02

Flowers poor you! Feel your pain. Mastitis is horrid, but with 4 kids under 5?! 😱 Is there anyone you can get round to help you out for a couple of hours? If not, suggest you write off tomorrow as a kids movie marathon day...xx

PleaseGoToSleeep · 29/05/2019 02:02

Thanks @Koskenkorva he seems to be feeding every two hours through the night now Hmm so I'm trying to see that as a positive Wink

Feed as much as possible and take frequent hot showers whilst expressing using your hands.

kooklet · 29/05/2019 02:11

TF your sister’s coming! With the flannel-it needs to be as hot as you can handle. Also, feeding in different positions can ease things a bit. If you’ve not tried this already, lie baby down and feed from above. Helped me, though I did look and feel like a complete tit. Good luck!

YANBU, mastitis is the worst!! :( I hope it clears up soon Flowers

DorothyBastard · 29/05/2019 04:19

Dangle feeding helped me. Lay baby on the bed and dangle your boob over them on all fours. Not very dignified but it might help!

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/05/2019 05:18

Another vote for cabbage leaves in your bra, stinky but it works! Flowers

HolesinTheSoles · 29/05/2019 07:15

Oh you poor thing OP. I had mastitis a few times with my eldest and it was annoying. I hated the chills. I would use a lot of CBeebies over the next few days until it clears up.
