Partner's flatulence

SnakeSkins · 28/05/2019 22:41

I love my partner but he makes me feel physically sick at times because he farts ALL the time.
It's gotten to the point where he farts every 20 minutes through the day but the smell is so bad I actually want to be sick. I've started sleeping on the sofa downstairs because they have got so bad, I've told him if he doesn't try to hold them in or see a doctor soon I may actually leave him but he just laughs and says I'm overeacting. Am I?

He might need to tweak his diet: less sugar, less fatty food, more water.

WhiteDust · 28/05/2019 23:05

If he's just happily making every room he goes in stink constantly he is out of order and disrespectful.
I couldn't live with that and I honestly wouldn't want a man like that near me.
Open all the windows and ask him to sleep on the sofa. He needs to go to the loo and change his diet.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/05/2019 23:07

Is he overweight? How is his diet? Farts that horrific are in no way normal. He needs to see the gp and get this sorted.

LonelyAmongUs · 28/05/2019 23:07

YANBU, I've put it up with that for years, usually accompanied by excuses of an supposed illness that's never once diagnosed by DP's many fucking doctors.

Foxmuffin · 28/05/2019 23:07

Urgh. Does he have a poor diet?

Charles11 · 28/05/2019 23:09

Does he have ibs?its not normal and he should get himself sorted.

I’d be exactly the same. My DH wasn’t that bad but I still can’t work out why he can’t just go outside or into another room, especially when he tells me he has had a bad stomach all day. I lost my shit with him a few times during early pregnancy as it would make me feel so ill and he doesn’t do it as much anymore now. Even on dog walks he says to walk ahead if he’s going to as I don’t appreciate it blowing back in my face either!

HazelBite · 28/05/2019 23:13

Does he drink heavily, eat onions, eggs?? they are a deadly combination!

CheshireChat · 28/05/2019 23:13

Charcoal tablets are amazing for this, admittedly they won't help his manners, strychnine works better on them Wink.

splashywater · 28/05/2019 23:13

He could try lots of water, herbal teas and probiotics.

And maybe keep a food / symptom diary to see if he can identify anything that makes it worse.

What an interesting topic for your first post.
