To be upset by rising levels of racism and abuse.....daily encounters

I'd like to think that I am not being more sensitive than usual to this.
And I'm past thinking that this is due to political views but why is this so bad? It's affecting me wanting to go out, go to work or socialise.

I live in the south-east, on the fringes of a half decent town. I can count the racist abuse I encounter on a daily basis and it's gotten worse in the last 12 months.

On Saturday, someone cut across my lane in a retail park - she was turning right into a main lane....my right of way, she was looking at her phone too and nearly took off my bumper.
I beeped my car horn. She looked up and shouted F off Pki.

On Sunday, buying the papers in a supermarket (starts with T), I dropped the supplements bit of the newspaper and when bending down to pick it up, I knocked someone's bag on the floor. Nothing dropped and I said I was really sorry.
Bl*k Bh, she muttered at me, watch what you are f*g doing.

And today, parking at work, the company whose spaces are adjacent to where I park, one chap getting out of his car said the weather was lovely. I said it was but that we could do with some sunshine.
Where are you from, I was asked?
Up north?
No really, you're not from this country, where are you really from?
Born and raised here.
You need to tell me where you're from. I like cultures and stuff.
'Sorry - have a meeting starting, need to go'
Pki C*t he shouted at me.

I call it out whenever I hear it, when it's safe. I just say that's rude and move swiftly on if I'm with children though.
Utterly fed up of it though. I don't remember anything along this scale when I was growing up.
These are ordinary people being despicable. This is just going to continue isn't it?

I can remember hearing this kind of thing said when I was a child. It was even portrayed on tv. I had hoped that we (as a country) had learned better by now but your post has made me feel really sad.

When I read things like this OP I feel ashamed to be British, I really do.
