To think movie makers use graphic violence and sex to compensate for lousy story lines?

That's it really. Loads of realistic gore and/or extended shots of grunting sweaty sex. But no gripping plots. No real character development. No subtlety. Just cheap footage. Cheap boring footage. Am I alone in wanting a bit more censorship in the interest of making movie makers focus more on plot?

I agree. The film industry is dominated by a certain type of male writer, producer and director who pander to a particular demographic.

I think it's more to do with the fact that there are overwhelmingly more bad movies and meh movies than good movies.

There's just as many movies that use crap humour and good looking 'in actors' to make up for poor scripts. Adam Sandler and Kevin Hart for example turn out shit movie after shit movie like their lives depend on it.

Done right gore/sex contribute to the plot in meaningful way than if they weren't there.
