To book time off work this early?

I'm starting a new job on the 1st of July. Would I be unreasonable to try and book a week off in the 1st week of September?

I'm not sure if this will make me look bad especially as I will be on a 6 month probation period because I'm a new employee.
But I think that I'm not wanting the time off as soon as I start, I will have been doing the job for a couple months (without any other booked time off) before I have this week off.

Would you do it? Do you think I should?

Was it not discussed at the interview? I always mentioned that I had booked holiday etc and they have always been honoured.

Or is it new holiday?

I’m sure it’ll be fine, could you just tell them you already have a holiday booked that week? Most employers understand holidays may have been booked by new starters before they interviewed/started etc

Should probably have said in the OP, sorry! No I didn't say in the interview because I didn't have a definite date then

Do you think that makes a difference? Confused

You're entitled to annual leave. Didn't you even mention it at the interview?

I'd let them know asap btw as it gives them plenty of time to arrange cover.

I think it is absolutely fine, if it conflicts with some sort of training then I think it was up to them to ensure you would be available. I would mention it on your first day though - or even phone HR and let them know before you start.
Bear in mind you may not get paid fully for it as you may not have accrued enough holidays.
